Reform Councillor in Dartford discovers he has a conscience and defects to the conservatives.

https://www.theguardian.com/politic...-after-partys-policies-left-him-uncomfortable
“the more I saw of Reform UK, the more uncomfortable I felt to be part of it”

You'd have thought he'd have had some idea what they were like, before allowing his name to go down on the paperwork which he signed.

This bit I find odd, coming from someone on behalf of reform.
A Reform source said: “He got elected in July 2025 as a Reform councillor. He should resign his seat but he won’t because he knows he will lose under the Tory banner. We look forward to winning this seat back as soon as possible.”

They weren't as choosy about their first elected councillor, a defect, elected under Labour and the Co-Operative party. There was no call from them then for a stand down and a by-election for exactly the same reasons they give, in demanding a by-election.

I think there's a significant level of willful ignorance in some people about what reform really is. In this case, the councillor at least acknowledged the reality of what he was seeing.
I know I've said this before, but based in both cases now and twenty years locally, I'm seeing the same again just under different colours.

It's the same people shouting in support though. Some, but not all saying they'd never have voted for what we got then.

Make sure the young people in your life see this ...

''We will make work pay (less)''. Reform want to cut minimum wage for young people - he argues that will help them pay less tax.

Here's the whole episode. So tell all the pensioners you know that Reform will not guarantee the triple lock.

You'll him him say the people they are going after are young people's wages. older peoples pensions, benefit claimants so again young people and old people, and people with mental health conditions.

And the voters that are purportedly signing up for this in the greater numbers, young men and men of pension age. I'm sure some people here can explain how this works.

No sensible Pensioner believes that ANY Party will honour the triple lock for much longer.

The billionaires are demanding more trickle up. Minimum wage to be slashed. Imagine the income from a single car parking space being worth more per hour than the labour of a person's 18 year old grandchild. It's where the country is heading.

Employers' contributions to NI would be cut. This being test marketed as ''helping small business''. Tice says they are ''business men'' as if that is a guarantee for the working people of the UK that they are the party for them. But I guess as long as they continue to say that they'll deport migrant people older people will continue to be the group most likely to support them.

How does the argument from Farage and Tice, that cutting wages and salaries helps people lower their tax bill help people or the treasury? They intend to funnel more money upwards, not sustain spending in essential services.

When the day of reckoning arrives, there will be massive pain for millions of people in the UK.

Rachel's disaster budget will bring about a financial crisis very soon. What actually happens from there is going to be a bloodbath.

For some it will be a godsend just to keep a job.
