Spineless King....

This is the result of a country that has a head of state elected by God, not the people.

So we don't need a monarchy, but if we have one at least he mustn't get into politics.....unless we agree with the political stance he takes?

It is not necessarily spineless, but this is exactly why he has to stay away from politics.
Are you saying the climate emergency is merely politics?
(and note the Queen went last time with no-one objecting).

Can't believe I'm saying I think I'd prefer Charlie there over Truss

Everything is or can be politics (and not merely politics), or at least politicised.

Whether he should go or not has to take into consideration the government's opinion, and also depend on what his role was there.

Royalty should, if they have to exist at all, stick to ceremony and hand-shaking. They are paid well enough for that as an over-privileged, hereditary elite.

He can always abdicate and be free to say and do what he likes. He might enjoy the experience and even stand for election as a politician or become a campaigner on climate change issues. The world is his oyster.

Talking of Oysters, in wondering what to do with several redundant Oyster cards, each with small but unknown amounts of money in them.

Oh, and an interesting thing is that it's being claimed that Charlie authorised the leaking of the government's refusal. This might be setting the tenure of his presidency reign.

The secret is to get your leak in before the other side get theirs. That's why they all employ advisers.

Welcome yourself into the new modern crisis
He's head of state of a lot of different countries, some with conflicting policy objectives. Can't he go on behalf of Tuvalu or something? I mean it's gonna be underwater pretty soon so it seems relevant. As head of state of Tuvalu he could ask himself as head of state of the UK to ask their PM to do something about their emissions.

rather than attend a conference, no doubt with an entourage of flunkies, would it be better to set an example and:

- attend via video link
- replace all "Royal" motor vehicles with Electric versions
- build wind turbines at all suitable sites on the Royal Estates
