Starmer's vision quest

Absolutely Stevo. Labour only have a majority of 156 seats. If 156 Labour MPs defect or stand down, anything could happen.

Of course what's likely to happen is that Labour will stay in power until they call an election in 3 years time. By that time, Reform will have strongly shown that they are a complete shootshow hopefully.

I guess it would then be a straight fight between two parties with similar credentials, except that Labour will have likely proved theirs beyond reasonable doubt.

That's of course if leftiebollox policies don't precipitate a financial crisis before the 3 years is up and the government collapses.

Seems unlikely given we tried that with rightiebollox policies a couple of years ago which are now costing me £30,000 minimum.

The question being

Well Stevo what does this statement tell me?

It reconfirms what I already knew - that you're a fatuous twerp.
Labour have been more than a bit crap, but they have made changes. Here's a couple to start you off.
1. Reduced NHS waiting times.
2. Ending no fault evictions for tenents.
And a bonus that will really start you off
3. Scrapping the 2 child benefit cap

All fascinating, except that it doesn't answer my question. Have another go, but read the question properly this time.

Or just that personal ambition trumps common sense. Arrogance, failure to dispassionately look at the real world, etc. Failure to see a strategy to achieve something that might be best achieved by waiting. Bit like the long distance runner where the final winner isn't bothered by people ahead of them in the early stages as they have their strategy that they know will give them the opportunity and advantage later when it matters.

Suitably covered in my follow up post.

Good bit of whataboutery there, Rusty.

Politics is whataboutery. Every party bases their argument on 'whatabout the other lot'.

Never mind the leftiebollocks whatabout the rightieshite.

You cannot talk about the collapse of Labour support without the overall collapse of the support for the established big two and recognise that the start of the Tory collapse predates Labour's by over two years.

Thinking more on this there is a good chance the Greens might mess up in councils as well. Lots of 1st time elected people with no experience. Many years ago when I joined the Green Party they were cautious, I (as all new people joining then did) had a party official come round and an interview of several hours before my application to be regular member was approved and that was before "historic social media posts". Back in the Caroline Lucas days when newly elected without experience could get sensible guidance from the party.

But with so much inexperience and "maybe I overstated ... (ie lied)" approach there is a chance they'll mess-up.

But Greens only have 11(+8 coalition) and Reform 27 so bad mess-up they are blamed for might not be so widespread?

nb I also left the Green Party ages ago as I was basically frustrating and not very interesting.

Or she realises she can't achieve what's expected of her so it's her way of trying to come out of the situation with some prospects for some future Gov. position? Me guessing at possibilities.

I think if she would have been wiser to keep schtum, given how much she is disliked by so many of the PLP, and how Starmer has kept her in post despite the widespread criticism of her of being a Reform stooge.
