The funding bodies don't do it out of pure charity.
Same with Starmer's freebies, football tickets and other Labour Ministers getting free concert tickets. None were given out of generosity, because these politicians are hard done by nice people. Those organisations doing the "giving" are buying something and speaks volumes that these politicians don't realise it. What do these politicians think is happening?

We do need better politicians who can just think a little bit even if that is only occasionally.

Yup - Private Eye is forever documenting these freebies and matching them up with MPs' questions/statements in Parliament. It's not as bad as the US, where it runs into millions, plus their freedom to trade in shares, but the fact that in the UK it's usually relatively small beer is no reason not to be worried about its effect.

Seems to me that the Maccabi fan ban stems from the Police assessment from intelligence and experience from other events. So it seems to me primarily a Police "decision". So politicians declaring it is antisemitic is in effect declaring the Police force to be anti-semitic. If they really mean this should there not be an inquiry or investigation to root-out the sources and causes of what politicians seem to be alleging is antisemitic Police force?

It will be almost entirely a police decision. One of my oldest mate's Dad is a former very senior Officer in WM Police and also the ex head of Villa's security (retired coppers into football security is a nice post police retirement career move 😂). They will have rigorously risk assessed this and the decision will be very robust. Aston/Witton is largely Asian and more specifically Pakistani (you will see a fair number of Palestinian flags around there), that combined with (an admittedly small) minority of hardline Maccabi fans with a history of causing trouble made it a fairly common sense decision. I don't see it in any way as political on the part of the advisory group, it just demonstrates a clear understanding of the particular situation with this game and the risks involved in this instance.

I'm not a football fan so have no idea how what organisations respond to what events. But I do wonder if the recent game being stopped in Israel highlighted to Maccabi club that the UK match stood a good chance of problems and press reports which could cause football bodies to put in place longer term more widespread formal bans. Whereas declining tickets allows them to present themselves as victims of prejudice.

That, exactly, and Starmer is helping the lying cünts.

This all should have been completely straightforward. From the outset they should have said something like: "all football clubs in partnership with local Police forces routinely risk assess football matches purely in the interests of public safety. This is not a political issue in any way, but a straightforward public safety matter and has been handled accordingly by the relevant authorities in such matters".

Quite so. It's baffling just how bad they are at this stuff. Not only do they not set up any off-ramps by using balanced perpectives, but when one does come along fortuitously, they ignore it. Time after time.
