Well, it's not done that so much as say you have to pay £8.99 a month for your blue tick to be able to do it.
I think the idea is that you are then traceable. Most likely there are ways to have a verified account anonymously, but it is harder and I'd imagine there are easier ways to be perverted.

I also doubt that Grok is the only engine that could generate such images.

The psychology of the internet troll article I posted postulates that they have high empathic awareness but very low emotional empathy (or something like that). Meaning they are aware of and enjoy the emotions they induce, but don't experience any guilt.

In this instance it is clear that he is a bit miffed at my particular insult, which is pleasing.

This is interesting because he didn't care when I and others called him racist.

What can we conclude? That he doesn't mind because he knows he isn't actually racist? Okay. Well in that case, why DOES he care about being accused of consuming child porn?

It's really a question for you MAGAndy.

Gemini and Copilot (I think) expressly disable that. Apparently Musk equally expressly wanted to allow it, against the concerns of some of his staff. I can't see that it's hard to disable the function one way or another.

Mmm okay. Well Musk does have about 40 children so thetlres something going on there. Either way you can't criticise a government for objecting in the first place to a company breaching a sensible national law.

I've pondered this. My best guess is that somehow in the twisted mind of Musk, the algorithms they would need to change in order to prevent AI generated child porn would also prevent or restrict other AI generated images, and that this would constitute a restriction of freedom of expression.

So on the moral scale we have on the one hand merely potentially damaging fake images of adults that constitute free speech, and on the other the collateral that is AI child porn.

Rather than defer the former until AI is advanced enough to distinguish, X has decided that free speech wins out.

It is an interesting insight into the mind of a zealot.

Exactly. They don't want to infringe the rights of Bubba to make porno images of innocent murdered protestors like Renee Good.

Something nasty in the woodshed
The ability to freely generate non-consensual sexualised images, including abuse images of children, has now been limited to paying subscribers to X.

That would seem to suggest that anyone who does not immediately cancel their paid subscription, and particularly anyone who chooses to subscribe subsequent to this limitation being imposed, might reasonably be suspected of seeking out or distributing what UK law describes as pseudophotographic child sexual abuse material. Possession & distribution of such material is punishable under law & would at very least land a person on the sexual & violent offenders register.

If this sort of image appears on your feed it will be copied onto your HDD. The law considers this to be possession, whether you wilfully sought it out & saved it or not.

I wonder if MAGAndy's happy with his Blue Tick?

I think Musk uses "Freedon of Speech" as an excuse for other motives (politics and profit).

If he were genuine about Freedom of Speech he wouldn't have been banning left wing journalists from Twitter after they nwere critiucal of Israel in Gaza, throttling links to news sites he doesn't like, banning @ElonJet (despite it was just presenting publicly available data), banning accounts of those critical of Tesla, etc. (the list is long)

And it's often broader than banning accounts but also court actions eg against MediaMatters when they highlighted hate speech being pushed next to commercial advertisers.

X must therefore have the credit card details of every paying customer who has requested an image.

I'd suggest that they could demonstrate a commitment to the protection of women and girls by handing the images and the linked accounts to the police to review

(Apologies but don't think it's been posted on but I've been busy with other stuff)
UK construction hit by worst run since global financial crisis
Output shrank for 12th month in a row in December, while housebuilding in deepest slump since 2020
...
“Many firms cited subdued demand and fragile client confidence. Despite a lifting of budget-related uncertainty, delayed spending decisions were still cited as contributing to weak sales pipelines at the close of the year.”
...
“Moreover, there are few reasons for businesses in the construction sector to be more cheerful. The budget’s prioritisation of higher welfare spending rather than investment will come as a disappointment to many builders, and the boost to activity from falling interest rates will be modest this year.

“Meanwhile, the chancellor’s mansion tax will exert further downward pressure on the housing market. So, we expect only modest growth in construction sector activity in 2026, with risks tilted to the downside.”
I thought construction was a major push for Labour, something they've been wittering on about for ages. Yet rather than creating conditions for sector growth they seem to be watching a decline. Yet another failure by Lanour?

Before lumping this on Labour, what are the causes? Once you know that you might be able to decide who to blame.

I don't imagine shrinking the UK population to appease the xenophobes is going to help: shortage of workers in necessary trades, and fewer families needing housing. I suspect Polish builders are benefitting.
