There's a difference between being the party the working class might vote for and being effective representatives of the working class.

Jim Ratcliffe has diverted £3bn of investment from UK to USA

Energy prices, carbon taxes and new Labour climate policies make the UK uncompetitive, unattractive and unworkable.

I'm in France just now, not far from Paris. Be interesting to see if there's any Bloque Tout action where I am, I kind of doubt it.

For all they're good at protesting in the cities, it doesn't usually spread further than that.

Even out in the sticks there looked to be quite a lot of disruption on SNCF, and I think there will be a lot of protests, but as long as you're not planning any major journeys, I don't think the impact is going to be massive, just an annoyance.

Wait for the predictable leftiebollox replies along the lines of 'we don't want any money from that nasty capitalist anyway'
The story is allbollox. Ratcliffe's move to the US is nothing to do with the Starmer government or the UK. Ineos has been increasing it's debt for a while and the only country that still has a major appetite for oil is the USA. He may get a surprise when US debt goes critical and taxes have to be raised.

Ratcliffe has extracted all the government funding that he could so moving abroad is the obvious next step.

Starmer tightens grip on economic policy by strengthening autumn ‘budget board’
Keir Starmer is tightening his grip on economic policy by beefing up a committee that will help shape the 26 November budget.

Pensions minister Torsten Bell and Starmer’s new chief economic adviser, Minouche Shafik, will co-chair the “budget board,” that will meet weekly to discuss the details of the statement.

Government sources said the meetings were aimed at ensuring No 10 and No 11 were aligned and that there was not a repeat of the backlash from businesses that followed Rachel Reeves’s maiden budget.
