Just as Starmer might have hoped for a bit of improvement in his fortunes, the High Court have ruled that the proscription of Palestine Action was unlawful. Police made more than 2000 arrests on the basis of PA's proscription, arresting people of conscience against genocide.

This follows the recent release of 6 of the 24 Filton prisoners on the ground of lawful excuse.

Unfortunately, the reform plant cosplaying home secretary keeps the ban as they plan to appeal. Yet another abuse of process.

Appeal and then progression to the Supreme Court is, i think, inevitable.

Ian Dunt weighs on on Romeo. This Civil Service type of promotion is covered so well in Dunt's depressing book on Westminster.

Incidentally, the most interesting chapter in Dunt's book is the one on the Lords, which apparently does pretty much all of the important work on drafting legislation, not least as the timetable isn't controlled by the government, and because it has so many actual experts in the relevant legislation (a liberty which is being abused in trying to block the Assisting Dying bill).

So when the Lords does what you want they are experts & when you disagree they are abusing their powers

All at great cost (legal fees, court time, etc.) and all paid for by us. We have enough other demands on taxpayer funds and should not be wasting it pursuing trying to maintain credibility for Ministers.
