So yes I think bellend was almost a term of endearment for Robinson.

That was wrong of him, but criticising Corbyn and accepting he was a liability as leader is the right of anyone, especially a party member, in the same way as you criticise Starmer at every opportunity.
Starter is turning out as useless as Corbyn, but in a different way.

Pointless argument really as this is about the piece of sh1t Blair...but I'll answer.
I haven't got the ears of the media though have I ?
Tony Robinson campaigned relentlessly to stop a Labour Govt, at any cost. He worked hard to install a Johnson Govt because of his hatred of Corbyn.
Now I'm not sure which part of that is your right as a Labour party member ?
But don't expect me to say all is forgiven Tony as I liked you in Blackadder.

I would have thought accusing a person of being against a policy because it would affect his personal taxation would require something more substantial/factual than just an opinion such as: "The depths some people will sink to rather than pay a little more tax, eh?"

I believe this little contretemps typifies what is still wrong with the Labour Party. Always fighting yesterday's internal battles rather than getting into a position where they can challenge the Tories for power.

The one time I thought we had a chance of change and a decent leader and we get fecked by members of our own party ! But I'm meant to rejoice with Starmer lol....

You are not meant to rejoice with Starmer, that is the point. A good leader makes people want to support them rather than be supposed to. The party's last two, or four really, have failed, or are failing, that requirement.

My problem with Robinson is nothing to to with his opposition to a particular policy (which I have merely inferred in any case) and everything to do with using his celebrity status to traduce a social justice movement. I can't stand the horrible little smug bastard and I don't care if you think I'm being mean to him.* Sorry.

I have been a member of the Labour Party I suppose thirty years now.

I am unapologetically proud to continue believing that every single leader Labour have ever had, Blair included, was/would have been/would be better for this country than every single conservative leader.

Given the choice, I'd have had someone with the politics of Corbyn but avoiding the suggestion of antisemitism and with the charisma of Blair or Kinnock and the leadership ability of, well, Blair again (someone a bit like I fondly imagine Atlee to have been). But I have little sympathy with people who said then that Corbyn wasn't someone they could support, or, equally, people who say now that Starmer isn't someone they can support - wake up folks, the alternative is Johnson....

Charisma is overrated. I think Blair did the Labour movement no favours. His actions suited the neoliberal agenda. Choosing the least bad alternative is persuasive, but a sad legacy for the political descendents of Atlee.

Blair actively undermined the NHS with marketisation and private finance debt. He refused to take on 'right to buy' or even to help build council homes. His idea of education was more mantra than meaningful. He made socialism a dirty word.

Could Corbyn have avoided the suggestion of anti-semitism? His support for Palestinian rights was wrongly conflated with anti-semitism. Should he have repented publicly? He is a person of conscience, and the issues were over-simplified by his detractors. Left-wing jewish members are now being expelled from the party for similar reasons. Corbyn wanted the party to sort out its own root problems of democracy.

The trouble with this of course is it means exposing shortcomings, but if you don't point them out it doesn't mean they don't show.

I think the Labour party has too many members who bought their council houses, and are protectionist of their 'privilege'. Closet Tories. Please take the Labour party by its scruff and have local party meetings about important things like scrapping right to buy and re-nationalising energy and railways!

Although I was overjoyed in 97 when Blair won his first election, that was soured when it became apparent that one of the things he'd agreed with the dirty digger for getting the S*n to support Labour was for Blair to call off the dogs over Hillsborough. The 'impartial' investigation was dropped like a dog-turd and Jack (man of) Straw was nowhere to be seen after promising the people of Liverpool he'd get to the bottom of the disaster and punish Murdoch and McKenzie for their vile behaviour.
