Anecdotaly. I just saw a post by a notorious Russian propaganda channel blaming the destruction on immigrants and saying Macron's immigrant policies are the reason for the destruction. Make of that what you will.

And false flag operators will help distract from the actual aims of the protests.

I think that's partly the sentiment of the cartoon above... it started as a justifiable protest about the lycées, and last night turned into a mixture with people who just like a good old-fashioned bit of rioting and looting, and those who want to promote anarchy for political purposes (probably with the encouragement of Putin/Musk) to destabilise European governments.

Even allowing for the ridiculous enforcement of Palestine Action (which is the fault of the Government not the Met) this is a gross exaggeration:

“This may seem odd to those who have faced the Met on demos and the British State is working hard to catch up but it is a reality...”

British policing of demonstrations is incredibly light touch compared to virtually any other country. Depending on your political views there will probably be times where it will get criticised for being too laid back but I think the balance is generally very good which is why our demonstrations rarely end up like they do in places like France.

Don't forgot 80's Britain's riots and hard policing of strikes and protests

Whilst I largely agree, I'm old enough to remember the SPG.

The British police are the best in the world
I don't believe one of these stories I've heard

Tradesmen/women will get some work out of it.
Finding that silver lining...

And the French do admire their artisans and artisanes as being the heroes of the French Republic.

I suspect they will be going back to 1885 original designs, engineering and techniques wherever they can... they seem to like that sort of thing.

Very sad footage on social media of a woman pleading with looters not to enter her small shop. Of course they just push her aside and run in to grab stuff. Another of youths intimidating a reporter and making throat cutting gestures.
It's all going to fuel the right wing parties.
