Waiting at Colombo railway station for a train to Trincomalee, I saw a group of embarrassingly English train-spotters watching a steam engine wheezing into view, towing some ancient carriages*. Sweaty men in too-short shorts, funny hats (in one case a knotted handkerchief), cameras slung round their necks, and notebooks in hand.

*Even more ancient than the ones we were about to board.

Oh Gawd, that guy just makes me cringe.

Learning that some of it is staged and so on, doesn't make me feel so bad now... Except it still does, because people will think that that is all it's about.

Reading about his past though, yes... Lets just leave it there as most people are idiots when it comes to such things. 🙄🤦‍♂️
