I suppose another observation would be that pure trolls don't have any specific interest in the subjects that they comment on, other than using them as vehicles for trolling.

Imagine being in a pub full of interesting people, but there's some bloke in the corner shouting incendiary stuff about every subject from real ale versus lager or cider to whether Hitler was a socialist or if the Earth is flat, and all the interesting/sensible people are crowded around the loon trying to reason with him rather than ignoring him.

It's an unfortunate outcome of online trollery that the troll manages to make every thread about them rather than the actual issues.

The clearest definition that someone is trolling, and is enjoying it, rather than discussing an issue is when they make a comment like “Their sanctimonious attitude is fun to play with”.

It only stays fun to play with when it gets a reaction.

Back to the train analogy. A troll would just repeatedly post information about unusually old rolling stock, and avoid commenting any actual comparative data.

Oh.

Mad Doug Biker

Just plodding along as always.
How old do you think those 'ancient'
coaches are?

For someome who seems such a 'know all', I'd have though you knew!:giggle:
... How it started... I thought being a

'know all'

Was a prerequisite of being on this forum for most! 🤣
You could fcuk off if you wanted to, petal.
Wow... What?

Yes, hence why I was annoyed (also drunk at the time, but never a troll).
'Often', but not always! 🤣
All I was saying is that the Cross Country stock is hardly 'ancient'... It might seem like it, due to bad design, etc, but in the great scheme of things, not really 'ancient'. Middle aged if anything.
No, just comfortable that I'm correct that Cross Country rolling stock is shoot and old.
There you go again... At least the first time you said 'often'.

It just stinks of

"I'm right even when I'm wrong"

FYI, you are wrong.😝
My manhood is threatened by someone who knows their locomotive serial numbers though.
Clearly you felt the need to swear at me though! 🤦‍♂️🤣
See, a real troll would either state that

1) locomotive serial numbers are daft
2) that they've been incorrectly numbered because of Labour, or Obama, or aliens
3) or ask for a complete list of the serial numbers of CrossCountry trains and their date of fabrication to prove the point they were making.

You're not going to get your black belt in trollery by admitting your manhood is threatened.

You also need to use lots of emojis to pretend that a) you have a sense of humour and b) to give an get-out-of-jail card for your insults.
He's also annoyed me previously over something which I admittedly, never really responded to, so my reaction was provoked by more than one issue.
It was a bit of spleen venting as it were. Unfair, maybe, maybe not!
Now Gov. are re-nationalising the train operators you could try a "Freedom of Information Request"?

Ian
Or just buy the correct 'Platform 5' book
1) I think he'd argue that the renumbering was daft.
3) The person in question would probably be able to give you a list, without having to look it up first.
'He' would, happily! 🤣
I will confess to occasionally sealioning.
Occasionally?

Oh.
I am no troll, it's merely a subject I know about. The only one being a troll here is you, as I've given you ample examples and an opportunity to look it all up and yet, here you are, still being that 'know all' 🤣

Of course it is. It's a forum, not life or death. Calling another country's leaders names or anything is just venting off.

Your rants or opinions count for nothing, as do mine.

A forum is for petty pointless scoring, realise what it is for what it is, a forum.

Myself
I post links, they don't like the content. It goes against their stance/position. I'm classified as a troll.

Their sanctimonious attitude is fun to play with
If the content was visible you might be in with a chance of your post making sense. This is all I see when a link to an X post is posted.

Absolutely nothing that makes any sense. And as discussed in Site Support CC, it's something to do with not having an account on there.

Aw, you’ve just informed him that he is wasting his time. Wonder what he’ll do to compensate.
