"Lefties" are the ones who would happily pay more tax for decent infrastructure, such as bridges.

This might be worth a read:

https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10.1177/09589287231164341

Among the left, income and education tend to have a positive association with willingness to pay taxes, whereas both variables are negatively associated with willingness to pay among the right. Thus, the core constituencies of left-wing parties composed of socio-cultural professionals and of production and service workers have different tax policy preferences. Socio-cultural professionals, with their higher education and income, are significantly more willing to pay taxes than production and service workers, who share lower education and income

Maybe you should lead by example then? As currently I see mostly demands from lefties for other people to pay more.

Does this mean I lose my honorary Leftie status? Like many Lefties on BR I was fine when Boris put up NI with the intention of it specifically going into health and social care and was opposed to it being cut again in an attempted election bribe by Sunak. My main gripe is taxes being spunked away by politicians awarding questionable contracts to dubious blokes down the pub or the husband of an underwear magnate (that sounds very dodgy!!). Starmer's biggest failure for me was allowing himself to get trapped in a corner by ruling out increasing income tax, NI or VAT. Utterly stupid and unnecessary as the election win was virtually guaranteed.

The assumption appears to be that those "educated, with a good income" are happy to pay taxes, therefore, they tend toward "left leaning parties", why is the assumption the other way around, ie left leaning parties raise taxes, because their audience are willing to pay (ie, it is not a vote loser, to their audience), just as valid?

Two sides of the same coin.
What is your point caller? 😉

You want me to donate towards a bridge for you to hide under?

I suggest you look after yourself first, your need seems to be greater.

I'm not not going to sit in judgment on your status, unlike some people on here.

I just had a thought that persistent trolls are not unlike AI: each time someone responds to a post, it's training the troll to work out what kind of provocation elicits responses. There's also the technique of occasionally dropping in vaguely normal posts to persuade the audience that the troll isn't really a troll, but it's just done to draw people in.

The mistake is to think that a troll is interested in discussing subjects on the way that normal people do. All they are interested in is being the centre of attention, and causing people to get angry.

Or they join with the stated aim of posting what they want to. Because there's no-one who can delete what they post, nor is there anyone who can tell them off that they have to listen to.

The resident trolls on this forum are incapable of training.

You see, that's where I think you're wrong - the nature of trolls' responses are the result of both what doesn't get a reaction (maybe not outrageous enough) and what does. If nothing gets a response, then they eventually go away, but this mistake is in thinking that they are open to any sort of reason: that's not what they do it for. Just the attention. And every response adds to their training diet.
