Why doesn't Trump ask for his money back from Israel?

He's just given them another $2.5 billion, and unlike Ukraine they aren't using it to defend themselves, they have used it to attack.
Definitely Trump/Vance were looking for a fight eg as somebody else pointed out they made a big thing about Zelenskyy not wearing a suit thus being "disrespectful" yet Musk never wears a suit to eg US Cabinet meetings and nobody bats an eyelid. Multiple standards to me shows it has nothing to do with policy or ideology, just Trump/Vance hate Ukraine/Zelenskyy/EU.

A two tier Trump sounds grim as f*ck.

One for the Viz's Profanisaurus.

just Trump/Vance hate Ukraine/Zelenskyy/EU.

That's one view.

Another is that they have no feeling either way about the sovereignty of Ukraine or the welfare of the Ukranian people. They've been offered a deal by Putin whereby they get to extort half a trillion dollars of mineral that they lust for under land already occupied by the Russians, while European countries can pick up the risks and the costs of supplying peace keepers. They lust for power, minerals and money. Moral arguments they have no feel for, which is a point that I think Zelensky was trying to make.

We'll have to wait years, maybe decades, before we know what has really been going on behind closed doors in Washington, in Saudi Arabia and over here.

My understanding is that Trump's intense dislike of Zelenskyy stems from when Trump attempted to coerce Hunter Biden/Ukraine to provide "riot" on the Bidens. It went somewhat beyond a request with Trump enlisting many of his then "usual suspects" into pressuring the Ukrainian Government to support and legitimise the "Biden–Ukraine conspiracy theory" (the false allegations that Joe Biden, while vice president, improperly withheld a loan guarantee and took a bribe to pressure Ukraine into firing their prosecutor general to prevent a corruption investigation of Ukrainian gas company Burisma and to protect his son Hunter Biden). Trump then blocked a congressionally-mandated $400 million military aid package ... Zelenskyy/Ukrainian Government didn't do Trump's bidding and it all ended-up with Trump being impeached.

Hence the significant animosity Trump holds towards Zelenskyy & Ukraine.

In other words - he is very thin skinned and hold a grudge for ever

which is why we cannot revoke the State Visit
It would be, in effect, totally destroying any good will and co-operation between the UK and the USA for the next 4 years

presuming that trump remains President for the rest of his term
there are other options although the result of those might well be someone as bad but cleverer

Did I predict chaos as the likely outcome of the Trump presidency? Because this is what is being delivered.

Is it sheer ineptitude, or is it a wider strategy to lay the groundwork for an authoritarian takeover in the US. Neither outcome is good for anyone.

Today's news just emphasises the point that at every turn Trump is putting pressure on Z, but at no point has he put any pressure on Putin. Added to this, much of the public announcements from the Trump/Vance tag team seem to be insults designed to provoke an emotional response. Again, is this just to play to the MAGA troll base who love this kind of thing or does it run deeper?

We will just have to make sure he gets a suitable welcome, plenty of Ukrainian flags etc.
If only Janey were still with us. I hope we get lots of tribute acts in her honour. Lest we forget...

I fear this is exactly what is going on. The likes of Elon and other tech billionaire Trump supporters stand to lose a significant of money and stocks in the markets, but why would they actively partake in this? A tighter grip on power and a promise of a slice of it, it would seem. It's what they really crave, they hate democracy, thats how the likes of minimum wage, employee rights and health and safety comes about. Elon's already a foot in the door in that aspect, anyway...

UK "authorities" are very good at isolating protesting crowds and embarassing displays during State Visits. did Trump every get to see the "baby blimp" (or even made aware of it)?

He'll be hidden away, formal dinners, lots of photos and no public appearances.

Unsure what the King will be doing through it all given Trump's aggressive stance against Canada given his responsibility towards Canada.

If they can eliminate pointless regulations that prevent businesses running efficiently then they will make millions over the next few years

by "pointless regulations" I mean things like not being able to fire staff for no reason - regulations about safety and pollution
things that allow people to sue companies just because they got crippled due to a lack of safety equipment at work
regulation limiting the amount of time you can demand someone works

all that sort of stuff that woke lefty Europeans have and cripple their businesses

and remember - these millionaires (and above) know when things like tariffs will be imposed so they can time buying and selling shares to make a maximum profit

in lefty woke countries this is called "insider trading" when really it is just wise use of information and sensible investment strategy
