A cemetery full of dead Russian war hero's.

It's grim as fark. I was kind of put off showing and feeling sadness for average Russians through the war when I listened to those intercepted phone calls from Russian mothers and wives with their men on the front line. It was all "when are we getting the money for your service and signing bonus".

Yes and worse; many soldiers who die are classed as MIA and until a body is recovered (which never happens), the families don't get paid.

Russian drilling platforms in Caspian Sea struck, Ukraine's military says

Krasnador oil pumping station deep inside Russia burns.

Important (and very expensive S-300 radar system taken out in the Zaporizhzhia region (yes, that's how you spell it)

Artesh partians hit Russia's shrinking locomotive fleet

https://www.ukrinform.net/rubric-at...ian-military-cargo-to-zaporizhzhia-front.html

Agents of the ATESH partisan movement destroyed a diesel locomotive near the Likhovskaya railway station in Russia’s Rostov region – a key transit point for military cargo heading toward the Zaporizhzhia front.

Ukraine leading war on drone fight with over 1000 missions per day wiping out soldiers and anything of military value. The last moments of this Russian soldier in glorious technicolour. There are hundred and hundreds of these videos as Fedorov is paying bonuses to drone operators and they have league tables. It's almost Playstation like - well it would be but the Playstation is much harder.

Now Orban is gone, there is no one to block the $90bn EU loan to Ukraine.

Look closely. The man has no fingers. The video is unedited and no, it's not a trick of the light.

There are more than 1 recruits in the video sequence. They are alcoholics. When you get drunk and pass out in Russia during the winter, your fingers can get frozen and then you can loose them.

Russian bloggers who say anything critical of the war and Putin either get imprisoned or sent to a mental asylum.

Moscow Times:

Russia's federal budget deficit blows past annual target in just 3 months.

Russia’s federal budget deficit surged past its full-year target in the first three months of 2026, underscored by a sharp decline in energy tax receipts and a double-digit spike in government spending.

According to Finance Ministry data released Wednesday, the deficit reached 4.6 trillion rubles ($58.8 billion) in the first quarter, already eclipsing the 3.8 trillion ruble ($48.6 billion) gap originally projected for the entire year.

The shortfall represents a staggering 2.6 trillion ruble increase over the deficit recorded during the same period in 2025.

Telegram now blocked. 90m Russian's mow cut off from the internet, the no-state news and the outside world as businesses suffer and Russians are pulling their hair out.

  • The only oil refinery in the Black sea is on fire and has been burning for a few days.
  • At the Russian economic forum, numerous individuals were speaking out regarding Putin and the state of the economy where before, they would not dare.
  • Russian army loosing 9000 personnel per month.
  • Ukraine continues to hit air defence systems with minimal resistance and is targeting anything military. Large air defence system in Crimea taken out with ease.
  • In amidst the glaring collapse, propagandists (significant Russian bloggers too) live in an altered state "We should take Kyiv and blah blah blah and then Warsaw, perhaps one day Paris..." "I dream if the day the people pf Odessa welcome the Russians as their master...", "..it's strange how some people in Odessa want to be part of Ukraine, it's frightening..."

5 Oil refineries hit overnight. 1 near Finland not so badly damaged but the other 4 are still buring.

This is the best bit. Ukrainians hacked a secret meeting where Russian administrators were discussing the lack of plastics amongst other things and the lack of basic items like copper.
So the Ukrainians managed to speak to them directly and said to 'watch their backs' as assassinations of officials is now widespread.

What is the relevance to the current situation of an incident from 2014?

I'm struggling to understand this post

It's only significant in that the Russians didn't take this town, despite their ambitions and that Zaporizhzhia remains defiant and anti-Russian. Putin thought that most Ukrainians would welcome his military with open arms, the Russian war bloggers are still claiming that they need to take this town and that the residents want to be Russian anyway.
I think the KP printed the article as a reminder to the constant Russian propaganda - and it is constant but the divide between propaganda and the reality is becoming ever more stark and disparate.

Russia is in deep, deep sh*t. Putin is too much of an @rse to do a U turn and possesses no humanity, so would never consider giving up this conflict.
Russians are now openly criticising him and the mess the Russian economy is in, whereas before, dissent would almost guarantee arrest and possible imprisonment.
Bankruptcy's are through the roof, an estimated 37% of business portfolio's have bad debt.

Tuapse is burning. Tuapse and the locale is the Russian riviera (you can add Sochi). The Tuapse oil depot exports 4% of Russian oil. It's on fire. It has been burning for over 7 days. (an environmental disaster). Burnt and semi burnt oil is raining on Tuapse, covering everything in a sticky black substance.

Floods always hit Russia this time of year but as infrastructure spending gets syphoned off and war funding demands increase, it's just collapsing. The extra cold winter has caused even bigger floods and bridges have collapsed, streets are flooded (often mixed with sewerage) . The 'recycling tax' was increased by Putin's govt. and yet there are pictures of waste piling up.

Russia lost between 600,000 to 1m people who fled in 2022. They have lost 1.4m to death or injury in a country with an already had a declining population.
The economy, according to one state official, standing in his local parliament/council said that a repeat of 1917 will happen by Autumn this year if things continue to get worse.

Have a watch of the YT video's by Jake Broe or Jay in Kyiv (who reference their commentary with images and press) and the outlook for Russia is bleak both long and short term.
