I'm admin of a few random FB groups (historic churches, lardy cake, wordnerds), and you soon spot the nutters, and they get a deletion and ban (it's always a newcomer who obviously is just spamming groups).

Most of the rest just need a bit of a quiet word and potty training, and they are fine. If there's a rule that's broken by a few people, I'll post a general reminder to the group as a whole.
These were on the subject, although not the subject of the actual page, if that makes sense and I must confess to not really paying as much attention as I should have at the time.

I had seen them on other related pages and seemed to be a bit 'Marmite', so I gave them the benefit of the doubt at first (waiting for a reply from the poster).

Had it been porn or something unrelated, fair enough, immediate ban, but they weren't.
They were just A.I. videos which, to be fair, would have been good had they got the facts and other small details right.
Besides, there were so many of them that it was starting to get annoying anyway.

As for individual posters, yes, I'll just sit back and watch but sooner or later they trip up...

I left one large community group as a mod as the owner was happy with the worst of Facebook. I can only assume as it made her money. With 20k members it needed tight rules which could be mercilessly enforced, and she wasn't interested.

On this group (Guess The Station. It's a railway group), most people are well behaved, but we, for some reason, get the occasional idiot or idiots who simply give the same nonsensical answer to every single thing.
What makes it worse is they seem to have 'fans' who suddenly appear.

I banned a guy after several warnings and then got pelters from his friends. 🙄🤦‍♂️
Strangely, they left the group pretty sharpish after that. 😆

Things like that just get tedious beyond words you see and there is now someone else doing it to various other groups.

I've noted his name (may even be the same person with another identity 😵‍💫)! 😆

Ha. I'm also admin for a "Where Am I?" group. Never had that sort of thing. Yet.

I only got the job on the 'Guess The Station Group' page because I was having a good run of guesses on it and because I, quite by chance solved a long standing post.

It was an aerial picture of a station and the surrounding town and countryside, taken from a plane at goodness only knows how many thousand feet.

It went unsolved for ages, until one day, I just happened to be looking on Google Earth for another one someone had posted (I can't remember what it was) and it suddenly occurred to me

"That looks strangely familiar"

I made a mental note and then looked at the Facebook page.

Lo and behold, there it all was, pretty much the same image, the railway, the buildings, the roads, the fields, etc.

It was Hitchin:

Anyway, the owner was at Uni and didn't have time for it, so he gave the page to me to look after as

"I seemed so enthusiastic".

Moral of the story, don't be too good at anything, it might just backfire on you! 😆

I also invited someone else (who runs several pages already) to help (even though it's a quiet group, I can still miss things occasionally), so it's fine.

It is quite common for people to get frustrated when someone says "obey the rules", and you think you are, but they then punish you for breaking them. A lack of consistency is also common when you've got multiple moderators. I wouldn't worry too much though, it's not personal. No-one really has a right to say what they want on a forum owned by someone else. We essentially all guests and not paying for it

They'll start nailing people's heads to the floor before long. All this transgressing the unwritten rules has to be stopped.

I don't have a Facebook.

Membership of two cycling forums is as much as I can handle.

I was on Facebook long before here.

It's Twitter... Sorry... 'X' that used to take up all my time though.
Facebook can be dipped in and out of though because it is more diffuse than X, i.e. there is more variety or scatter of subjects, so it generally doesn't need so much concentration.

@No Ta Doctor - to be fair, they've got you bang to rights there. It is a clear enough rule. The swear filter still applies here for lots of words, but you can use the usual workarounds so you can avoid daffodils, and no-one will censor your post or tell you off (unless you call Ann Widdecombe names).

Oh I'm not arguing that I didn't breach a rule. Just that they might as well execute me as ban me for a week during the Tour.

What would happen if you were to swear in French? C'est un bordel de merde. Translation for English language readers - it is a suboptimal situation.
