Nice way to dismiss an entire genre of music... It's like saying all classical music is rubbish, or all pop, rock etc.

Yes of course, but that's the keynote, predictable 'ignorant and proud of it' attitude we've come to know..(If not quite love) from this particular source right.??

I was once told that nobody actually likes beetroot - but some do build up an immunity to it.
As a grower I love it .
It's pretty reliable year round veg and pest free. - as o my long a as them pesky wabbits don't find it

As an eater I'm not its biggest fan, it's too sweet .
Pickled , krauted, or made into chocolate brownies are my favourite treatments.

Fair play to Shep for listening to, and writing off, that lot in 10 minutes though, credit where it's due.

Given the direction of conversation and your bit in quotes there, I couldn't help being reminded of this*;

Hmmmm, why does that not show the link, it's "Proud to be Black", Run DMC.

*For the avoidance of doubt for any mischief makers, I'm not saying black people are ignorant!

Many thanks, still shyte in my opinion but hey ho.
Fugees are good just don't like the rapping bits.

So you don't like The Fugees then.

Could I ask for a bunch of your favourites, to see whether I can dismiss them as readily, without even having listened to all of the tracks?

Of course dismiss away my friend, difference being I won't care.

Being born mid '60's I was predominately an '80's child I suppose so here goes............

Lots of old '60's.....
Gerry and the Pacemakers.
Stones.
Early Beatles.

Some Northern Soul but not the hardcore specialist stuff Al Wilson, Frank Wilson, Booker T. that sort of thing.
Mowtown.
Some Girly Rock music like Queen, Guns'n' Roses, Meatloaf, Bon Jovi, Springsteen etc.
Favourite stuff though is........
The Jam.
The Specials.
The Beat.
Selecter.
Old Ska as well as the '80's revival and some Reggae.
Oasis from a bit later.

There you have it.

My problem I guess is I never moved on.

Yes but nobody is claiming that beetroot itself encourages and even glorifies the act of pickling rather than being the product of a system which has for years resulted in the systematic application of vinegar to particularly purple coloured root vegetables.

Yeah partly you can blame the system just as most rappers do, then blame the system for inserting drugs into their community and in the same rap blame the system for arresting them for using/trading/smuggling drug.. i mean there is something like an mirror, and surely the system in the us isn't great either.(as the matter of fact it's only great if your 1. conservative christian 2. very rich 3. a combination of both) But that doesn't mean rapping about being an gangster often glorification gang killings and so on does make you complicit. the list be low is from wikipedia:

All ''gansta'' rappers Rest in Peace?

Everybody understands that, and if the often black skin color is a problem, first of how about eminem? Second i'm very sure if someone would start rapping about the KKK and gloryfing their crimes which then in it's turn would result in a resurrection of the KKK and related murders govemernt/law enforcement et.c et.c would fall over eachother to blame the music and possibly seek to prohibit it.
That's why i said they need an mirror, you can only change the community for the better if the community wants that change itself, otherwise you just get all those failed projects and new gangsters every 10/20 years. just like we have seen the past 30/40 years.

You've said how much you don't care about things so much that it's hard to to believe.

That's a pretty good list, though I'm not sure I agree with your definition of 'Girly Rock'.

I can't stand beetroot and just don't know why other people do.

I quite like beetroot, in several forms.

Once lodged with a Dutch couple who had worked in many parts of the world, the wife often cooked up various recipes she had acquired on her travels, beetroot was a frequent ingredient. She also had some palatable ways of cooking cabbage (which I do dislike).

It is pointless discussing this with a person of such poor taste. You'll be saying you like celery next.

Don't tell me ... did she add beetroot?!?

I have, the forum appears to be full of easily offended people.

My usual term for such things would be Gay but that's probably no better

Any particular reason for the Capitalisation ?

I remember many a 'straight up biffer bloke*' homophobe of my generation - (which is also your generation) - who would swear blind that Freddy Mercury couldn't possibly be gay - hilarious ^_^
