Likewise ‘mong’ and ‘spas’. I can still remember the collection box for The Spastic Society in my local supermarket as a kid, obviously that was just the correct term but the images on the box always felt a bit strange to me even then.

There was a poster on here not so long ago that saw no problem with using the word spastic to describe people, even when it was pointed out to them that the term was outdated and offensive.
