One of my ovens is connected to the net via the house wifi. Why the fúck escapes me, as does why the fúck I would want to operate it remotely.

What happens if you block its internet access, doesi still work? The risk of having a device like that connected to the Internet is that they usually have pıss poor security, so they are ideal points for miscreants to access your network.

It would be poetic if the entry point for the attackers was one of those connected domestic appliances in a staff canteen of the corporate headquarters.

Aye, that does make sense. But having a home fridge connected to the internet is weird, which I appreciate wasn't the original line, but I keep seeing adverts for them and I can't think of a good reason for it.

Tells you when your milk is out of date because opening the door and checking the label is so time consuming and tiring.

I think that some people want their entire lives controlled through their phones.

I worries me that so many people see AI, internet and computerisation just as a means of avoiding physical and mental effort when those are the very things that make us grow and develop as individuals and as a society.

It's no wonder that young people today seem to be suffering more from stress and anxiety.

Life is not meant to be easy, but we seem to demand it.

That's better, grumpy old man rant over
