There's a suggestion that the Saudis will be keen to develop nuclear capability to counter Israel's dominance.
No they dont, they would only ever consider it if a rogue state near by had one, Iran

He knows the catastrophic consequences of using such a weapon.

The far more desirable position is neither have it. So taking out a countries ability or production of nuclear weapon grade material is the best and safest option.

Obviously the panacea is no one in the world has a nuclear weapon- regrettably that box has been opened

My impression, significant problem with de-escalation is Trump's requirements are that Iran demean themselves, kneel before him and kiss the ring on TV. Regime does that and they are dead or in exile.

Were US/Israel prepared to accept a mutually beneficial agreement where Iran can claim some benefits then things would stand a chance. But Trump needs to go on Social Media and post about what a hero he is, how he has totally defeated them ...

Interesting that all the US posturing on NATO and Ukraine, the whole campaign being based around America no longer paying to support global defence or being willing to get involved in international disputes due to the cost. Almost as if Trump wasn't telling the truth...

What is the betting that Trump withdraws from NATO this week?
Or, drop the threat at least.

The USA with precision strikes, not involving flabby mouth nations has resulted in (tbc) irans nuclear weapon capacity destroyed.

It should have happened 20 years ago, glad it's been done now

Lamy on Radio 4 Today program this morning refusing to answer question about legal aspect.
Not word perfect quoting but along the lines of:
Qu: Does UK regard US attack on Iran legal under International Law?
Ans: UK was not involved.
Qu: Not asking is UK was involved, does UK think attack was legal under International Law?
Ans: UK was not involved.
Qu: UK was not involved in Russia/Ukraine war yet UK Gov. continually declaring it illegal under International Law so what how does UK regard legality of US attack?
Ans: But UK was not involved.

Not the fizziest drink in. the fridge. Always disappoints me when politicians just answer a different question to avoid answering what was asked.

As much as I want politicians to be able to be open and truthful, I can understand why they are very guarded in public interviews when it comes to problematic international matters: the media will try to find and amplify differences, when behind-the-scenes frank diplomacy is probably the better way. This should be on loop:

I would imagine this is literally how it went inside the US Situation Room with Hegseth in the Chris Morris role.
