Also. She wanted the war, and it was clearly going to impact oil prices.

Total delusion.
No (patronisingly and with a faux intelligent voice) what she said was we should support the US, not get into the war, shoot some archers in self defence and, of course, deploy the ships we let rust for 15 years without enough funding much faster.

If she were PM that would have all happened on day 1, we would still be best friends with the US and the price of petrol would somehow or something or other.

One of her aides decided to go in hard about petrol prices today, because farmers or something.

Starmer and Reeves have said the September (6 months away) will be kept under review.

She kept asking why labour were increasing fuel prices and he kept saying it was under review. Clearly the first answer wasn't expected and therefore the second third and fourth repetition on the same point was rendered moot.

When Starmer pointed out she'd made a bit of an error suggesting we should participate in the US/IL war, she countered brilliantly with "fuel prices".

She can't think on her feet (or even when she's sitting down). And I'm not sure her listening skills are up to much either. Apart from that...

Erm... will Mahmood chase this sentiment too?

And apparently animals can include more details than portraits.

You mean they felt unable to include Churchill's genitalia on the note?

. . . also, and as mentioned on QT last night, the existing "new" polycarb (or whatever they are) notes will be in circulation for decades . . . just waiting for the gammon public who will only spend "Churchill Fivers" and similar retailers who will only accept the same.

Another front in the culture war has opened up . . .

Are notes still 'promises to pay' or are they now legal tender?

How about a nice beaver?

This is just nonsense. Stamps and coins have had silly characters on them for ages.
And loads of other countries have really interesting stuff on their bank notes.

I don’t understand the faux outrage.

I saw an interview last night on Newsnight in which Emma Soames, the granddaughter of Winston Churchill, was asked what she thought about losing his image on the note and she said she was pleased he'd had his image on them, but things change and she wasn't bothered at all by this change.
