I suspect Conservatives "excuse" for poor performance is that it's because of the previous regime and that Ms Badenock is changing and rebuilding and the losses show she still has a long way to go and it takes time from the lows of Johnson/Sunak.

It's a story that will probably mask the real issues and allow them to continue without actually addressing anything ...
