Farage is the anointed PM-in-waiting with pretty much the entirety of the UK media desperate to blow smoke up his scraggy, sieg-heiling arse. They'll be supremely happy to wave away any connection to or taint from Kremlin propaganda scandals so there's nothing to prevent them carrying him shoulder-high into Downing Street on a wave of confected bile & bigotry.

The only thing likely to stop that would be the rise of something/someone worse. And that's going to depend on exactly how much influence Elon's trillions can buy over here.

If they had any sense, these types of defections do offer the Tories, if they had any gumption, to stand back away from the lunatic fringe and reassess where their priorities could/should lie. But under Badenoch, I doubt that they will - they'll just try to find ways to hold onto the lunatics.

Finding my feelings towards the Conservatives very conflicted. Whilst I'm happy they are not doing so well, in other respects were they to collapse we'd end-up with Reform effectively taking their place and that I suspect would be (a lot) worse. Either Reform fill the void the Conservatives leave or Labour shift a bit further right and take the role (again not good).

Maybe into what is the "least bad" situation.

Not for a while but hopefully one day. I think it may well take near capitulation at the hands of Reform. Perhaps then there may be a slight phoenix rising from the ashes scenario.
