The Reform party seems to be failed Tory MPs who broke the country over the past 14 years complaining that the country is broken who have joined the party led by the venal conman who was the architect responsible for the biggest cause of the breakage.

It takes some bollocks to claim they're going to fix it.

I despair at the thought processes of anyone intending to vote for them.

Nice summary.

I am afraid that the electorate is proliferated by experience learners with short term memory problems.

The thought process is exactly the same as it was in 2016.
Many have seen no benefit from the rule of the 2 traditional parties during the 21st century, so why continue to vote for or support either of those 2 parties. The belief is that they cannot be worse off under the rule of a new party with different ideas.

Now the reality may be that they will actually become worse off if Reform enter Government, but it is up to the traditional parties to convince them of that, and to put forward agendas that people believe in.

Given the Conservatives are still unelectable to many, and Labour are rapidly heading that way too, the Lib Dems have lost their voice, and the greens are nutters, who should they support?

We are basically emulating the US but a couple of years behind. They elected Trump Mk 1, we elected the light version in Johnson. They saw it wasn’t what it said on the tin and voted in Biden, we saw the same and elected Starmer. The electorate didn’t see the change for the better so they voted in the more radical / unhinged Trump Mk2 and we look likely to follow with Farage. Brexit and MAGA / America First have damaged business and the economy in the respective countries.

Meanwhile, instead of working out what changes they can make to change old politics without following the populism path the ‘big two’ Parties just spew out watered down Reform policies that won’t attract the Reform vote or appeal to those that don’t want to go down that path.

Yes, to me, it is sad, and amazing, the number of people who have zero idea what is going on "in Government". Even within my own family, this is true, Daughter No4, although a lovely person, has a low paid job (Care work). She, and her friends have no idea of names of Politicians, which Party, what they stand for etc, beyond what they read on TikTok and/or Facebook. The one who really shocks me is Daughter No2, a Maths Teacher, intelligent, but, absolutely totally ignorant of current affairs.

Probably good for one's mental health...
