Who are all these Tesla-buying lefties of whom you speak? Aren't they supposed to drive around in 1995 diesel Volvos running on recycled chip fat, or something?

No Tesla was the virtue signalling symbol of the lefties.

Now the most hated. Just shows the left's ideological pendulum needs very little to make their allegiance swing form love to hate.

See this woman- totally deranged. Instantly swings opinion from admiration to hate.

Pretty much all left's mental behaviour

Deranged. Like patrolling twitster all day and posting inane bullshit on a forum populated by a handful cycling enthusiasts?

Who's barometer are we using to measure this shït?

Well Swasticar sales outside the US have plummetted in 2025, all due to the Muskrat being a fascist associated with the Trump regime.
Presumably the MAGA gas guzzling, gun toting tw@ts have a real issue now seeing as Swasticars are EVs which they hate on princple, whilst the brand has become synonomous with their cult leader......
Whilst all those US 'lefties' will just buy a better brand of EV.

To me it's irrelevant of any political leanings. No matter what people's choices are when it comes to their purchases, it's still their choice. It's almost like meat eaters mocking vegans for not eating meat and were almost certainly once meaters. I mean, what difference does it make to them, really? I can still buy sliced ham from my local supermarket on a yellow sticker for less than a quid, it's no affect on me, yet people bang their fists on their chests and get angry? Why? It's irrelevant. People make their own decisions, Tesla have options if it wants to appeal to these people or they can remarket themselves to others. Whatever. I think they look boring and I think they have shoddy build quality for their cost, I have thought this way long before Trump was president or any political associations made. That is my opinion and I'm not expecting anyone else to give a shït about that either.

Something nasty in the woodshed
Point of order sir. I must correct this misnomer: You cannot run (common rail) diesels on chip fat. You can however, run them on cooking oil. I ran all our plant and machinery in my global recycling empire on cooking oil - recycled cooking oil. We recycled 77,000 litres of the stuff no less and not once did I manage to successfully run anything on chip fat. In fact, I didn't even try.

Well, I would have assumed our more erudite contributors might appreciate that I deployed the term 'chip fat' as opposed to 'vegetable oil', for the comic effect of echoing back typical red-top tabloid-speak at our little Musk-worshipping, bin-burning chum. Alas I appear to have aimed marginally too high.

As a blatant pedant, you may already know that Rudolf Diesel originally intended his engines to be run on vegetable oil (peanut oil springs to mind) as he envisaged them being used in areas where petroleum wasn't easily available. I've found our venerable 2.8l Mitsubishi L400 Delica is quite happy to run on veg oil (at least in the summer) and used to regularly get a fill-up at Costco when they sold 10l of 'chip fat' for about half the price of 'proper' diseasel. Smelt a lot better too. :becool:

The vandalism is targeting people who thought they were doing some environmental good. People forget Musk was aligned with the Democrats at one point and Biden was pushing the climate change programs along.
From a militant perspective - vandalise the dealers and the factories but not the individuals who bought them.
Yes it seems to be the get out of jail free card these days, Milton who scammed for

Probably also becausetheir main product currently the Cybertruck isn't allowed on the road in many countries. and even if it is allowed in the US it has an use case, in the UK is hasn't and in many of Europe it hasn't so even if it was allowed it's not a popular product here. also because most of us will need a truck license for it.

The Prius was the virtue signalling choice of the lefty long before Tesla.
No, the first Volt was and it surprised GM so much they quickly cancelled it. (afraid to upset the big oil.)(yes i known the BS spin them gave themselves as to reason for cancellation)
Then they almost went bankrupt and somewhere in between you got the rise of hybrids, which was mainly developed for the inland (So Japan justto be clear) market the export version was an unexpected succes.(hybrid especially at that time was about 80%more popular as here in Europe.)
Does not take away that Tesla as a brand has done a lot to pave the way for current EV's just like seatbelts in the 60's car makers didn't want EV's to be a succes. so they tried to stop it. And Tesla did show the way to make the EV cool, bit said that Tesla is now almost synonym with Musk

The Prius predates the Volt by nearly a decade.

That historical fact is hew to me (and interesting).
You can run your L400 on oil in winter providing you add 50% diesel. I would advise the addition of diesel in summer too: 10 to 15%.
You are aware of (I presume), the following:
Due to the polymerisation of engine oil through the combustion of cooking oil, makes the engine oil very thick. Therefore, it's imperative to change the oil, oil filter and fuel filter every 5000 miles.
I thoroughly recommend deploying a dedicated 'Red' in line fuel filter as paper element filters break down quicker in cooking oil. If you do this in the line immediately after the fuel tank before the main filter. This will save you changing the main filter as often. Put it in an easy to access position. You can see it's contents and condition easily.
