What is this obsession with re-writing history?

Conditional pardon granted for Ruth Ellis, last woman executed in UK https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/crel4rj801do

I wonder what percentage of the population even knew this, before it was resurrected?

IMHO, Ruth was badly done too, but, it cannot be undone, resurrection for her is not an option.

I take your point but there may be relatives still alive who appreciate it. I know Derek Bentley's sister fought for his pardon for years. It's a bit like the 2017 blanket pardon for gay men who were convicted. It's symbolic more than anything and an acknowledgement from the state that it was a wrongful conviction. I'm generally in favour of these things even though they will be meaningless to most people and definitely 'a bit late now'.

It doesn't rewrite history, just adds a footnote.

I can't see why he'd be worth getting upset over. It's not as if he's milking millions from the Sovereign Grant and the Crown Estates.

"Anglo-American couple live in the US but sometimes come to the UK."

I've spent more time reading about the case here on NCAP than I have thought about them over the past few years. I really don't care what they do any more than any other Anglo-American couple.

This seems like a good thing:

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/crackdown-on-profiteers-through-childrens-social-care-shake-up

Children in care and foster families will benefit from a new model of children’s social care being rolled out more widely across England, expanding foster care, cracking down on profiteering, and ensuring that vulnerable children locked in illegal children’s homes instead get the tailored, individual support they need.

Five new Regional Care Cooperatives (RCCs) have been confirmed and four new Fostering Hubs are going live before the end of the year – a significant expansion of the new model of children’s social care which the government has been testing and trialling over the past few years. RCCs are partnerships between social workers, care providers and other key services like the police and health workers that operate across multiple local authority areas to deliver better outcomes for children in care.

Rupert Lowe is so out of touch.
How many UK population want the return of handguns?

I think even polling amongst their own supporters would show a majority against it. He's simply importing it from US politics as a hoped-for wedge issue. Ditto Farage.

The stats on shootings is something the UK can be justifiably proud of, if you accept that guns can't be uninvented, and that bad people will use them.

Per capita we are 800 times less likely to be killed by a gun than Americans.

More to the point, "one murder"? Really?!

That’s just semantics. Anyone in UK knows it was a mass killing. Americans wouldn’t be expected to know. Lowe was clearly being provocative to make a point and knew he could lie without being challenged. A IK interviewer would have immediately challenged him.

But the over arching point is that no one is currently demanding the return of hand guns. Because it’s a stupid idea with zero benefits to the general population.

If the main concern in your life is a lack of handguns, then you have a very cosseted life.

The bold bit is why it is more than semantics. He was queried and repeated the claim. He knew exactly what he was doing, and why.

Pandering to an American audience.
