That the EU doesn't rush is indeed the point. The UK chose to make a quick deal to help it to join CPTPP which it judged to be in the UK's interest. That doesn't mean that Brexit was right, just that a single country can do things quicker than a group. The UK also got some crowd pleasing visa changes.

So aside from CPTPP (Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, NZ, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam), we have now signed deals this week with the most populous nation and the largest economy on earth - with more to come, potentially. None of which would have happened if we had been in the EU.

All these 'little' trade deals that we are doing are starting to add up.

Any idea of total so far compared to the trade deal we list with the EU?

As we have a new pope, time for a look back at the time David Lammy thought the black smoke - white smoke thing was racist.

Pope Leo is the first American pope, though he has Peruvian nationality now. Looks like he's similar to his predecessor politically and at 69 should be good for a few years yet. Is the Popemobile still a thing?

Let's hope. Andrew Bailey was pretty clearly saying "sure, but the EU" today though wasn't he?

But well done for not being Kemi and saying we should have done a better deal... Like er... the Tories... Er....

And by the same token lets celebrate if Brexit gives us a win, even if we still personally think it was stupid.

Strictly, Francis was the first American pope, this one is the first one from the US.
