It's true, Brian confessed on Cake Stop to having voted for the nasty Torwies in the past. Which might explain why he's trying quite hard to gain favour with the CCNCAP lefties.
Hate to break it to you but I think there are a few former Tory voters on here. I was a Tory voter until Cameron cocked everything up. SInce then they have shown themselves to be inept, useless and out of touch. I voted for Lib Dem for the last few times as my area only has a choice of Lib Dem or Tory. We now have a Lib Dem MP instead of the pointless bag of flesh that is Dominic Raab.

I suspect there are very few lefties on here. There is very little left wing in the UK.
Just because you don't want asylum seekers shot on sight, doesn't mean you are a communist or socialist.

The UK is notoriously centerist. Starmer is a centerist. Cameron was a centerist. As soon as you veer into the racist xenophobic swivel eyed loons of the right wing, you tend to lose support. Farage is pretending to be centerist.

I suspect he is not the only ex-Tory voter on here. I wonder, if, rather like ex-smokers, ex-drinkers, or Catholic Converts, ex-Tories are more fervent in their condemnation of their old allegiances? 😂

Agree with most of this, apart from the truism that being a racist xenophobic swivel eyed loon of the right wing meaning you lose support.

Is that still true, or is being open and daring about the prejudices you think most people share with you now cool and potentially vote winning?

It's not a problem, just means a bit more fun can be had

Farage pretending to be centrist? Really?

As for others pretending to be centrist, Labour worked out that was the only way they could get elected.

I suppose one might as well laugh... Leave voter who wants to retire to Spain admits we were lied to and he would vote Remain now but supports Farage.

You're right. He's just hiding the right wing facsim under his "man of the people" persona.

Of course. Although, as I have posted previously. Labour didn't really win the election - the Tories lost it. Labour had roughly the same vote share as previously, but the Lib Dems and Reform nuked the Tories. That's why FPTP is so stupid.

Under PR we would most likely have a liberal coalition with the Greens and Lib Dems very much shaping and taming Labour policy.

Exactly the same for me. I’d never voted Labour until last year, after 2015 I moved to Lib Dem but realised it was pointless in my area so went tactical. Might have to do the same next time too, it’s been safe Labour here since created but possibly an area where Reform could become a threat.

I suspect that a majority of CS had voted Tory at some point (much to the disgust of @orraloon), but that doesn't fit the narrative that we were a bunch of lefties, unless voting for Thatcher/Major qualified one as a leftie.
