The Express simply cannot be seen to be giving Labour the slightest of credit for anything.
The economy could be booming, inflation and interest rates fall to near zero and they'd moan about savers getting hit.

I actually think this should have been written as:

Retail sales fall as shoppers starting to realise that Black Friday deals are largely made up rubbish to get you to spend money on Black Friday which seems to last for at least a week.

I did actually get two bargains this year. A camera filter at 60% off normal pricing (and who knows how much off RRP) and AA cover at 50% off.

Somebody I know frequently comments how they win from the Lottery every week. They gain £1 from not buying a ticket (saving them the £1 which they call a "win").

What vetting did take place in the case of this man? Exactly what is "proper" vetting and what detailed depth of vetting should take place on moving between countries, and should that be the same for all countries e.g. Portugal, Iran, Israel, Ireland?

Who knows what motivated him or whether he had displayed any violent tendencies before entering the US?

Far more in depth process to check original country for any record of criminality. Then make a decision before getting on US soil
