I didn't have "Hunter Biden nails it" on my bingo card. I think it also explains Starmer.

I put in qualifiers there for that reason. I'm not making out that the entire industrial revolution was lacy doilies and glee clubs.
But look at Bourneville, Fry's etc, and then show me the modern day equivalents. Sure, they weren't doing it for completely altruistic reasons, rather to keep the workers productive (and sober), but show me a modern-day equivalent of those sorts of efforts (obviously an immediate cost to the shareholders), and maybe I'll be less harsh on today's capitalism.

During the Industrial Revolution, the things you talk about were, effectively, just, some, of the wealthy choosing to pay some tax. They (the wealthy) decided how much they would pay, and, what it would be spent on. Governments in the West have now taken on that role. Effectively or not, you decide.

Wouldn't it be the other way around, given the circumstances?

Quite. Jeffries is trying to swing his schlong, but Mamdani will just be laughing. Jeffries and Schumer really are the most ineffective duo you can imagine, just playing at being minority leaders, as far as I can tell.

Both are in receipt of AIPAC monies. What do you expect? Mamdani is Muslim... join the dots.
