I thought the scratchy was a given..You missed out the “scratchy”. Standard order “20 fags and a scratchy” in our local shop. 😊

You probably get closer to your destination at the other end than if you drove though. There's usually a bus stop outside any major destination.

hit and miss. I just found out whilst looking up my local bus routes, that Surrey now offer "Surrey Connect" which is quite cool. It's a bus service but you say where you want to be picked up from, where you are going and at what times. Their system then groups passengers into manageable groups of at least 6 passengers and the driver takes an accessible minibus on the journey.
Maybe that's the future for busses in more rural areas?
You obviously don't go to the same newsagents that I do. It's not the rich people buying the cigarettes and vapes.
They'd be buying more if they were £3 a packet. The middle classes are getting through £10 bottles of wine every night instead. It's just a different method of self harm, though obviously some people like to think the alcoholic dependent folk buying prosecco from Waitrose are better than the ones buying Special Brew from newsagents.
This is a good book for those interested in cutting down on alcohol.

One of the pleasures of being an occasional drinker is that I get to experience the joys of both sobriety and inebriation*.
*Mild inebriation in my case as I hate hangovers.
I assume there is a book on the joys of drunkenness out there somewhere, though I'm sceptical as to whether either would be a joy to read.
One of my in laws picked up £250k on a scratchy. He is clueless. Totally clueless.

Doesn't sound all that clueless to me, unless, that is he had bought 250,001 scratchys 😂
I won't go onto the details of what he's spending it on.

Is it in line with George Best's quote?
