Short of shooting people, how would you stop 60,000 rampaging your border? If it was easy then a solution would have been found y now.
Migration is an impossible problem to solve. And I don’t think even low 1,000s of migrants would be acceptable to the gammons.
In a world of highly mobile people you have to accept there will be endless pressure on the southern border and this will only keep getting worse.

They could make it less attractive - for example not legalising illegals en masse and making it clear that they will be sent back if the cross illegally. And easier to repatriate - e.g. not letting those who swam there off the hook as no physical border had been breached.

In the end if they do nothing, it will as you say get worse.

It does police its borders properly. Do your homework. Ceuta is a difficult area and asylum seekers who make it into Ceuta do not then travel into mainland Europe. It's a special case.

Oh - and stop reading that shitty rag of yours. "Other EU countries" have not asked for this. The ambassador was asked for verification during the meeting but it is not clear who asked for that.

How many countries are able to completely protect a border? I wouldn't say the US is soft on immigration but plenty of people manage it (2.8 million in 2024). It's particularly difficult if the border agency of the country they are leaving is actively encouraging them.

According to reports 70,000 of the 72,000 have been returned.

Don't you think it's a bit weird that the only places reporting this are GB News and The Telegraph? It appears that the source of the information is Laura LRies at the Heritage Foundation, a US think tank pushing Project 2025.

It's almost as if there is some sort of agenda here...
