In many ways just daft but highlights the stupidity of these masked "protestors" and how little they bother or understand what they are actually protesting about or trying to achieve

Blindness charity tells anti-migrant protesters they’re ‘not the lifeboat people’ after RNIB mistaken for RNLI

Anti-immigrant protesters have been directing abuse at the UK’s leading blind people’s charity, accusing it of helping small boat migrants after mistaking it for RNLI.

The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) reminded people that they’re “not the lifeboat people” amid threats to the RNLI in the wake of anti-migrant protests in Portsmouth and Dover this month.

Volunteers at the Royal National Lifeboat Institution have been targetedby far-right demonstrators for the charity’s rescue work bringing some small boat migrants ashore.

RNIB said: “For absolute certainty, we're the Royal National Institute of Blind People, not the lifeboat people.

(widely reported in a lot of mainstream press)

Makes you really wonder what's happening in the UK. I suppose both organisations' names start with the letter "R", but ...I'm lost for words.

Probably the same sort of people who confused paediatricians with paedophiles.

They’re not thick or uneducated though. Never suggest that, they are just expressing legitimate concerns

You said: I'm starting to think that Sheeran has played a bit of a blinder here to be honest.
But I dissagree.
Simple.

Same here. I think he's tried to do the right thing to enable the concerts to go ahead in the face of hostile stadium owners, but it's backfired spectacularly.

He'd be better off cancelling the tour and telling his fans he'll reschedule when America ceases to be a hostile country again.

Not sure which thread to put this but it made me chortle:
I’m slightly obsessed with the arrest of Danny Tommo, AKA Captain ThugwashC. Normally when the police investigate a serious offence they have to do all that tiresome police stuff. Find witnesses, take statements, recover CCTV, establish who was there. Generally work out what happened.
But Vasco da Gammon apparently decided this was an unreasonable burden on the taxpayer, so he FILMED HIMSELF DOING IT. Not just afterwards, standing next to something damaged looking suspiciously pleased with himself. He apparently filmed himself repeatedly slashing an inflatable boat while an emergency responder was still aboard... and put the footage online.
The police have now arrested Sir Walter Wally on suspicion of several offences, including destroying ships or endangering their safety under the Aviation and Maritime Security Act 1990, an offence which can carry a maximum sentence of life imprisonment on indictment.
There is something quite magnificent about [allegedly] committing an offence carrying that sort of maximum penalty and thinking, “You know what this needs? Portrait mode.”
Police evidence bag:
Exhibit A: the video.
Source: the suspect.
Camera operator: the suspect.
Distributor: the suspect.
Social-media publicity department: also the suspect.
Somewhere, a detective has opened a fresh notebook, written “Well, this is convenient” and gone for lunch.

That was my thought. Blindingly obvious evidence yet I'd expected Police to take a few days to consider investigating, then maybe 12 months collecting evidence to pass to CPS who'd reflect for a further year ...

Glad they've acted.

And there I was trying to find something in the house which was totally ridiculous to be 'smart'.

And there I was trying to find something in the house which was totally ridiculous to be 'smart'.

Used one in a cafe in Cleaves, Germany, earlier this month. Had to ask at the counter for the code, cheaper and more convenient (hoho) than paying a euro for non-customer use of the loo.
