The thought did pass through my head. Before or after the US has invaded Cuba 'on the way home' from Iran?

Bolsonaro has not conceded, and all over South America there's a hard core of fascists that miss the days where the poor knew their place. It may not need much help from Trump, Facebook and Xitter interference will go a long way.

I wonder if his father has a spare room?

Unlike last time, the person who won is the incumbent, so at least the tactic of just refusing to leave the building is not available.

What worries me is just like the US there is a very elderly moderately sensible person holding back the right wing tide. Will there be a vacuum in 3 or 4 years like post Biden?

Dunno. I find the US system so weird in that the parties don't have a single 'leader' in place when in opposition (Dems are screwed if they think that Schumer or Jeffries have the charisma and moral character to carry the party over the line).

The thing I'm appreciating about Burnham so far is that he seems to realise that political leaders can lead debate rather than slavishly just following what polls and focus groups say. Thatcher and Blair both did that (for better or worse), but since then it seems everybody is happy just pandering to the noisiest sectors of the electorate, following, not leading.
