Nothing whatsoever to do with illegal immigration, two tier policing, taxes going through the roof to pay for people who contribute nothing and never will, food prices going through the roof, rent and mortgages swallowing half your wages, a GP appointment requiring six weeks notice, diesel costing £2 a litre, people being arrested for social media posts, public funds being pissed away on things nobody asked for, energy bills constantly increasing and all this is going on as the country slowly turns into a third world shoot hole before our very eyes.

I'm beginning to get disappointed and suspect over next two years polls will move in the same direction. Burnham making loads of promises but all small and often local and nothing people are going to remember 10 mins later.

Make minor promises but avoid the issues that need to be addressed and eg Social Care Reform really does not need a General Election. We've have no end of inquiries, reports, Committees, etc. and now is already way after the time for it to be addressed.

Reforming social care in a meaningful way, rather than tinkering at the edges, will require a general election. Because of the ageing population and the apparent increase in numbers living with mental health problem it will cost a huge amount in the short to medium term and, at the moment, the money has not been set aside for it.
Fixing it will cost different parts of the population money e.g the young paying more in taxes for the "boomer generation", the older people being worried that their savings/wealth will possibly have to be used to fund their care rather than leaving it to their kids, and " the hard working "middle classes" worried about their taxes, plus the usual suspects whining about paying for scroungers.
The problems have been left to build up for years and it requires a lot of money and change in attitudes to remedy it. It can't be done overnight, as previous inactivity by governments has shown, and will require a government with ambition and a reasonable length of time to carry it through. If Burnham is serious about this he needs to balance the need for swift action with the need to win the next election with a manifesto making clear his plans...and not just the usual political platitudes.

It was voted on (as far as any single issue can be "voted on" in a General Election) last General Election where Labour won a landslide based on a manifesto that included
Ie we've already voted on it and it got massive (landslide) support. Why now just kick it into the long grass because "we need another General Election to decide? - we (the electorate) have already spoken. Time to actually do it.

Because Starmer did nothing to bring it about, as alluded to in my last paragraph, and now Burnham hasn't got enough time (or money), or any plan to do it in this term.
The electorate have spoken, but it hasn't yet hit them that they, not some amorphous body, will have to pay for it. And to work out how much it will cost them will take a plan...so back to square one.

Time remaining isn't an issue as it will need cross party consensus (eg get support from the Lib Dems). Even starting day after General Election result "there isn't time". Anybody can always use "not enough time" eg General Election then a focus on a Budget for 4 months, then a consultation then Committee reviews, then oh, not enough time left.
Election manifestos are never that details, always high level and broad. So no manifesto would eg "We will introduce a 0.75% surcharge on income above £56,000 with a mitigation allowance for those in receipt of Winter Fuel Allowance and reduced to 0.3% for those on disability benefit allowance. Additionally share dividend payments above 20% of company turnover will be subject to 0.5% Social Care Tax with exemption for shares purchased through approved employee share options within the last 5 years ... Do I still have your attention?"
Labour committed to a manifesto pledge, we voted for it and now they're claiming "we can't do it without a General Election". Excuses.
Maybe as starting to reduce the deficit will cost us all money or services we should delay that until the next General Election (given we don't yet know what it will cost us)?

My thinking is that either the elderly pay for it and the young don’t get an inheritance, or the young get an inheritance and have to pay for it with taxes.
Either way “we” pay for it.

There is still time to plan and set out policy in more detail than just soundbites but the practicalities of detailed planning, costing and implementation cannot just be glossed over. It is never the broad aims that cause the implementation problems but the details and the costs.
Starmer did waste any time he had to start implementation and that has hamstrung Burnham on being able to achieve anything this term...but he must deliver more than promises about a plan arriving soon.
