It's not that ridiculous if you compare it properly e.g pollution per capita.
Also as one of the wealthier countries in the world if we decline to act adequately we can hardly be surprised if other countries with weaker economies fail to act.

Also as a wealthier country our acting can help create the technology and market for cleaner energy generation.

Having changed jobs and being back to commuting to Bristol a couple of times a week (by train other than having to drive to the station) I noticed they were digging up the area around Templemeads which is all to do with this project to expand the existing community heat network (that I didn't realise existed despite having worked in Bristol for a significant part of the last 25 years or so). I guess this is what happens when you put a bunch of lefties in charge of running a city why aren't they spending money erecting flagpoles and being patriotic instead of wasting money on the climate change con"? If only more councils would be this forward thinking (I've assumed it is a good thing but I'm half expecting someone to explain why it actually isn't and doesn't really help the environment).

I really can't remember a time when they haven't been digging up around Temple Meads.
