As I said, my reply about limited time was in the context of you comment on reading his letters (plural) and having tbe backbone (as indicated by my quotes before my comment), NOT in relation to your snippet.

Ian

You could have saved more time by saying nothing. Just saying.

What do you mean by Judaism is motivated by profit?

What the actual f*ck?

Because what you've gone with here is pretty heavy.

It was a strange thing to say so I asked a straightforward question about what it meant. It was a reference to usury apparently. Asked and answered.

Usury was the point, but not ''apparently'' and not ''a strange thing to say'', since ''usury'' was the last word of the previous sentence to the one you quoted and challenged.

'Experts say a reliance on solar and wind power left Spain and Portugal vulnerable'

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2025/04/28/blackout-risk-made-worse-by-net-zero/

Telegraph experts obviously.

It seems to be a big "maybe": https://www.telegraph.co.uk/busines...uncover-what-took-down-europes-power-network/

"Spanish authorities suggested they were investigating the possibility of a cyber attack on grid infrastructure, while some officials in Portugal initially said it was caused by a freak weather phenomenon before backtracking. Both say the exact cause is still unknown."
...
... and I really love this guy's choice of wording:
"
We’re deep in engineering country here,” warns Liebrech. “It is just really hard to know until they have properly investigated."

Come on, be fair - credit to them for asking THE expert:
"Richard Tice, the Reform party’s deputy leader and energy spokesman, said the events in Spain should be a warning to Britain and showed the risks of net zero.

He said: “We need to know the exact causes but this should be seen as a wake-up call to the eco-zealots."

Yeah because we live in the freak times where Spain has no sun and no wind right? oh wait..
(Please don't ask me to explain how I got to the Paywalled article. Because then I'd have to kill you.)
switched off javascript? or used those browser plugins? (or one of the 301 other ways) glad you didn't pay for this tough.

where have i heard that line before? ohhhh yeahhhh it's an template:
''insert event that could lead to electional gains when blamed on migrants here'' ''insert some random blah about uncontrolled immigration here'' say the line that covers all ''We need to known the exact cause but ''insert you next suggested cause of action based on asumptions and asumptions alone'' (in this case the eco zealots blah)

So whilst the world, mainly scientists, UN Climate Cha nge Committee, etc. all those people who have spent years analysing the issues and effects have come to the conclusion the world needs to transition away from fossil fuels ... suddenly a new player who says we don't. A Tony Blair and he is in part funded by the oil rich middle east states so no conflict of interest there.

He might be telling us what his sponsors believe (while help them maintain their fossil sales) but why should be believe him over all those who have spent so much time actually researching, analysing, etc.

Why do these aging politicians consider their edicts so important to us when they are outside their expertise and subject to vested interests?

They get paid a fortune to host dinners for a small subsection who are happy to pay a fortune to attend.
Keep that bandwagon rolling along...

It all sounds like a monumental mess. Latest in the Guardian:
Tony Blair has been forced by Downing Street to row back from his criticism of the government’s net zero strategy after furious Labour politicians warned he had given a boost to Tory and Reform sceptics on the eve of the local elections.

Climate experts also accused the former prime minister of granting political cover to fossil fuel interests and weakening momentum behind the UK’s legally binding target to reach net zero emissions by 2050.

Senior No 10 officials called the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change [TBI] after he claimed the plans were “doomed to fail”, to urge it to address the fallout.

The Guardian understands that Keir Starmer has not spoken to his Labour predecessor directly but furious government insiders said that Blair had undermined Starmer on a key issue, at a crucial moment. One Downing Street insider said: “Tony farked up.” Another said: “He has completely lost his touch.”

p.s. good to see you on Starmer's side over climate issues. x
