Trump blowing hot and cold on the tariff exemptions, and the slide of the dollar continues. I guess devaluing your currency is one way to reduce imports.

It reminds me of another country, I can’t recall which one, where people were moaning about unskilled immigrants coming in so they had a vote to make it harder for immigrants to come in legally. Now there aren’t enough people to do jobs like caring or seasonal farm work. Can anyone remember which country it was?

Economic self-harm seems to be all the rage. De rigueur in fact.

Trump's goons still sticking two fingers up at the judge. I get the feeling that they positively want the excuse to flout court orders to demonstrate that they are above 'legal niceties' (i.e. having to follow the Constitution). They are in Alice in Wonderland territory redefining words to mean just what they want them to mean.

(If you do Bluesky, David Allen Green is well worth following for legal stuff.)

Should that read:
Now there aren’t enough people willing to do jobs like caring or seasonal farm work.

Devaluation, and an eventual move to "floating" currency was the flavour of the month in post war UK.

I remember it well, the pound in your pocket, balance of payments, the world was much more simple then 😂

You're on a final warning.

We didn't leave the EU to have our beautiful English language mangled by the French.

It's reciprocal. If you go on a Ouigo TGV ("We go"), the wifi is called 'Ouigo Ouifi'. The Académie Française must be on holiday, or the 'immortels' have all died. Most native speakers of languages like wordplay, apart from Trump, who just about manages his own language, albeit not always the right words in the right order, unless he's in mobster mode telling some politician that they've "got a beautiful country there, and it would be a pity if something happened to it". Actually, that is his native language, not normal English.
