It's reciprocal. If you go on a Ouigo TGV ("We go"), the wifi is called 'Ouigo Ouifi'. The Académie Française must be on holiday, or the 'immortels' have all died. Most native speakers of languages like wordplay, apart from Trump, who just about manages his own language, albeit not always the right words in the right order, unless he's in mobster mode telling some politician that they've "got a beautiful country there, and it would be a pity if something happened to it". Actually, that is his native language, not normal English.

Is that “reciprocal” in the usual, mathematical meaning of the word, or in the more one-sided Trumpian meaning?

Actually, I'm surprised he hasn't put a tariff on foreign words, so they can get back to using good ole US words like 'entrepreneur'.

Or the "reciprocity" meaning. From https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/reciprocity#:~:text=1,privileges granted by the other
1
: the quality or state of being reciprocal : mutual dependence, action, or influence
2
: a mutual exchange of privileges
specifically : a recognition by one of two countries or institutions of the validity of licenses or privileges granted by the other
Many years ago I happened to be going through land border controls between Peru into Bolivia and there happened to be a US citizen using same border at same time and they got quite angry when I got my entry stamp for free and they had to pay US$75 for the same stamp and I explained "reciprocity" (US charges Bolivian citizens US$75 for visa so Bolivia charges US citizens the same and US didn't like it).

@Pinno718 would love it if I started a thread on etymology.

Which reminds me of a joke:

What's the difference between an etymologist and an entomologist.

An etymologist knows.

Probably best in the other forum. What is stopping you?

True - very exaggerated

but we are living in a historic time

the fist time in history when someone can say "look at what that moron has done now"
and the vast majority of people anywhere in the world will know who that person is talking about without needing more context

Depends on which side of the fence

If I heard that Starmer, Macron would be my first thought
