My sister has loved there for nearly 40 years. My mate has two businesses there of which I'm an investor. It's a fantastic country, even with it's failings
It has fantastic geography.
There's a lot to like about the society also. But it is, overall, absolutely, batshot crazy. Basically, it is everyone for themselves, with a veneer of white picket fences.
For context, the average wage in the US is about 50% more than the UK, with about 12% of that taken up by a higher cost of living.
The *median* wage, however,.is more like 10% higher.
That means someone like me, if I didn't want to have any free time, would be quids in by at least 50%.
But for most people, not so much. Sorry chaps. And with no safety net provided by the state, and very few employment rights.
