I think this is absolutely true, and was true of the Tory government (I said so repeatedly at the time), and of Badenoch's party still.

I am not Trump's greatest fan, and have been a supporter of the BBC, but, if the recent news is true and the BBC has spliced his speeches together to make them seem even more controversial then it really does deserve condemnation and censure.

The man is a nasty, narcissistic despot and his words and actions are evidence enough of this without making them seem even worse to to embellish the story. This will also be used by his fans as "evidence" of the other stuff that is being "made up" by his enemies.

Agreed. This was nearly 5 years ago, I think the BBC have more than redressed the balance since.

Edit: this episode of Panarama was aired last year. I think people would have been familiar with the tone of the speech by then.

From everything I've heard and read, it seems that the BBC did splice Trump's speeches and also, that both the Chairman and the Director General of the BBC knew about it. It seems incredible, that this happened on a flagship programme such as Panorama.

I've long been a fan and supporter of the BBC, on the assumption that they are 'impartial' and 'honest'. I'm no fan of Trump - It's quite possible to think that Trump is unfit for office and at the same time think that the BBC editing quotes to make him say something he didn't, (quotes approx. one hour apart, and with no explanation of what they had done) but simply passing it off as a single sentence is utterly wrong.

Quotes being spliced together, is totally unbecoming of Britain's national broadcaster. So much for demonstrating British honesty, integrity, fair play and journalistic quality to the world.

My opinion of the news as put out by the BBC has changed over the years. They are no longer the completely reliable source they once were. Heavily influenced by agendas.
