Tide is turning. The political and economic equation will now be based on whether, in 11 months, Trump will be a lame duck and the GOP hobbled for the next presidential ele toon by people like Vance being tainted (as well as being against the pope), and the other candidates being utter lunatics without a broad base.

I hope you are right, oh wise one, but I've given up expecting anything sane from US politics, where even just six people on the SC can say black is white, and ignore the bits of the constitution that hold back the imperial presidency they crave, and strip Congress & the Senate of their democratic mandate.

Don't get me wrong, the damage will be significant and long term. and ongoing for as long as it takes to reform the supreme court.

I think that other 'great' US company, Apple, lost when they took on the EU.
If 'X' wants to continue to be available in the EU, it will need to comply with what the EU wants.
Look at the social media ban for U16s in Australia as an example

They did and it was the Irish Gov.

They avoided taxes for many years and then the Irish government won as Apple ran out of legal avenues to avoid paying their fair share of tax. They handed them a cheque for about 12billion Euros.

The EU holds trillions of US debt.

They can dump that anytime.

The EU holds nothing of US debt. Individual countries in Europe hold around $2.5 trillion of USA debt.

If these countries including UK were to use the 'nuclear' financial war by trying to call these debts ot would trigger a MAD scenario- Mutually Assured Destruction

Everyone would suffer immensely, I would expect USA with its financial might to weather the financial war better.

The once 'broad base' is splintering under the weight of it's own prejudice.
The 'Rogan Sphere' (Joe Rogan) is in full civil war.
For example, the fascist Jew Shapiro had a go at 80% of all the ethnic groups in the US basically saying they should be deported and the non-Jewish fascist Nick Fuentes said that they should also deport the Jews... Erm...

Tim Dillon said about the Trump administration as regards to the bombing of fishing boats and the deportations "Look here and look here..." dangling the keys so that the electorate is looking away from the economy and the detentions/deportations and the Epstein files and referred to it as 'performative cruelty'. Dillon was once a mad, proud Trump man now questioning his dear leader very publicly and in the process, seeing the administration for what it is.

Joe Rogan and Alex Jones are in full cognitive confusion - they see the effect of Trumpanomics and they are acting like boys who have been told their parents are divorcing, Dad's come out of the closet, Jesus left on the 10.10 Greyhound form Pittsburgh and they're skint and that babies don't come from Storks. There is no end of TikTok shorts of people regretting voting for Trump.
He is (DT) polling at 35% though and little wonder.

The ailing talisman's base feel as though they have been lied to. With no Talisman (dead DT), it will be an administration of headless chickens vying for power and as ever the optimist, I see an implosion/splintering of the Republican party (moderates and die hard Confederates) and the Democrats picking up the baton of the post MAGA era in a country facing huge financial/global/social difficulties (ring any bells?).

Ooh, cashing in on commerce. What a good idea.
If you want your sh*t here, you must abide by the roolz and pay money. Seems perfectly fair.

Bit early to be suggesting that the Australian “experiment” is going to yield positive outcomes. IMHO

They didn't actually lose, they had to pay the tax which they had successfully avoided for years. They paid in tranches over a period, but wrote down the expense in one year of accounts.

The billions in interest earned from avoidance in the period will more than softened the bitter pill of paying.

Re Australia social media bans. A youngster defeated all the security in less than a minute to access any platform by holding up a photo of their mum for age verification

Trying to censor the internet is not going to work. Soon as UK they were looking at banning VPN, there was an explosion in downloads of VPN software.

Trump has to realise that he doesn't rule the world.

US laws don't apply to EU companies either. Works both ways.
Which makes the recent US National Security Strategy document beyond amazing. How most countries in the world can do whatever they want except Europe/UK where the US is going to push to address "Civilisational erasure" (their words meaning keep the area white, right and immigrant free).

And the only way we they can accept us having "free speech" is for us to accept their Social Media on their terms and for us to just live with the damage it does to children & society.

True, but it will be interesting to see. For all the youngsters that find work arounds, there will also be those that don't. There have been very small scale TV experiments where kids have gone without phones and social media for a set period and seen noticeable benefits to their mood, MH and general wellbeing. If we started to see that at a slightly larger scale it would be a certain benefit. I know many would see this as hyperbole, but I really do believe social media has become one of the biggest dangers to public health (mental health certainly) in the western world.

I would not disagree with the bolded bit, I just think it will be incredibly difficult / impossible to put the genie back in the bottle (think almost any addiction, and, there is lots of money involved).

IMHO, the problem is not only "children" and devices, but, "adults" and devices. I regularly see young parents (most often mothers, but, not exclusively so), ignoring their children, whilst engrossed in their phone screen.
