Someone needs to show him, this, but I suspect it's beyond his comprehension. Probably like the size of his willy in his mind compared with its actual size.

Greenland's Mercator projection size v. Africa, compared with its actual size.

The Mercator projection is amazing. I hadn't realised how absolutely fücking massive Africa was until showed me the actual size of countries vs what we see when they're distorted to fit on a standard map.

AIUI the USA was a secular state with no rigid power and wealth structures, and saw a wildly productive and brutal scramble for wealth and dominance, which continues today.

Thr Latin American countries started with strong ties to one church and established Spanish aristocracies which limited opportunities and social mobility.

Maybe I just made that up.

Interesting theory, and, IMHO, not entirely implausible

Because it's the No1 platform for news in the world.

Best bit
Its not controlled by EU or UK or Australian online censorship acts.

You cant suppress the truth- see one independent journalist, had his goliath moment

Nick Shirley: "The most powerful people in the world use 𝕏..
It is true it is not controlled by those countries but it is controlled by one man who is politically motivated and has his own definition and control of free speech.

From AI:

Elon Musk’s approach to content on X follows a stated philosophy of "Freedom of Speech, Not Freedom of Reach," prioritizing visibility restrictions over outright bans. While he has branded himself a "free speech absolutist," his leadership has involved both the removal of traditional content moderation and the implementation of new forms of restriction.

Censorship of Content ("Freedom of Reach")
Under Musk, X has shifted away from permanent bans for many violations, instead opting to limit the reach of certain posts.
  • Visibility Filtering: X uses "shadowbanning" or visibility filtering to limit the reach of content deemed harmful or low-quality without removing it.
  • Selective Suppression: Reports indicate X has limited the reach of posts containing specific keywords (e.g., "trans").
  • Monetization Penalties: In 2024 and 2025, several high-profile accounts reported losing premium features or verification (blue ticks) after criticizing Musk's personal views, such as his stance on immigration.
  • Government Compliance: X has significantly increased its compliance with government requests to remove or block content globally, notably in countries with stricter speech laws.

Censorship of Users (Who Can Be on X)
Musk has drastically altered the criteria for who is allowed on the platform, though the process remains controversial.
  • General Amnesty: Shortly after taking over, Musk reinstated thousands of previously banned accounts, including controversial figures like Tommy Robinson and Katie Hopkins.
  • Targeted Suspensions: Despite the "amnesty," Musk has been accused of suspending journalists who are critical of him or his companies.
  • Platform Enforcement: X continues to permanently suspend millions of accounts for "severe violations

Users were banned under previous owners whims of they didn't like what they said or government requests.

The fact they article used tommy Robinson amd Katie Hopkins says it all.

Its has a darn sight more freedom now that Elon Musk took over.

Sure you see things which can be shocking to some, but that is life warts and all

Starmer on TV this evening still full of bluster, avoiding direct questions and unprepared to say the obvious as every legal expert seems to be saying, it was illegal. Wish Starmer would grow a pair and start representing the UK and stop playing sycophancy.

It has a different type of freedom...decided by one man.

Unsurprisingly his views are very close to Robinson and Hopkins

Afraid Greenland was mentioned specifically (from within the last 24 hrs)

I wonder if any of his Generals have pointed out that Denmark is a NATO member so if there’s a genuine reason it needs protecting the US just needs to work with its supposed NATO allies.

Well, with Brexit the country voted to be an isolated medium sized country in a world dominated by two/three giant countries. I guess the PM has to act in a way that recognises that.
