I clearly can't know what Trùmp will do now but I do suspect his initial responses are more about ego than any policy. He's desperate not to be seen as the fool he is.

Maybe he'll distract eg start talking about UFOs. Who knows.

Good chance he'll have to refund tariffs collected so next attempt he'll probably have to be more careful regarding the law and constitution. But there are some Republicans who would vote against tariffs.

He might love tariffs but he loves being the centre of attention even more. He's only recently discovered all the attention he can get from using military to attack other countries. Maybe that'll keep he distracted from tariffs for a bit?
