So I reckon we should call him Darth Trump now??

Hell, if he's gonna be wrong about things he might as well go bigly. He usually does.

"US President Donald Trump says he will hit movies made in foreign countries with 100% tariffs, as he ramps up trade disputes with nations around the world.

Trump said he was authorising the US Department of Commerce and Trade Representative to start the process to impose the levy because America's movie industry was dying "a very fast death".

He blamed a "concerted effort" by other countries that offer incentives to attract filmmakers and studios, which he described as a "National Security threat".

His remarks could spell a "knock-out blow" to the industry, one union warned, where filmmakers have for years left Hollywood for destinations like the UK and Canada in search of lower costs."

Is the BBC incapable of exacting criticism?

They're criticised no matter how they report anything. At least for the most part they don't resort to ludicrous hyperbole for clicks, although their sports coverage is going that way a bit.

I think the problem is that things have settled down. He's no longer the centre of everybodies attention., People are talking and thinking of other things, other news. He needs something to get the attention back on himself.

Of course he could have done that by eg telling Netanyahu to stop starving Palestinians (and US saying stop would cause it to stop given how dependent Israel is on US arms) - but that would have meant doing something good for innocent non-Americans.

He is protecting the US film industry.

Can't blame him for trying to get more home made films than going abroad.

Maybe Starmer could think about the British film industry, second thoughts, let's get him to think about the British people first

Fat chance I know

I suppose with the US media timidly cowering, you might just excuse Americans not being fully aware of just how dangerous Trump is.

I've been to Alcatraz, twice. I think the national parks service struggles to keep the place in a state of arrested decay despite mugs like me pay8ing $50 a head to walk around a relatively modern concrete building.

If they try to re open it as an actual prison, Elon Musk will close it to save money.

(It is actually well worth the trip, by the way)

Except all the major US film companies have studios in foreign countries, particularly Europe.
They have this thing about shooting on location, as the Unviversal back lot just looks crap.

So this is just latest of Trump’s tariffs to miss the target.
