I still would not bet on it. I know my small sample is not statistically significant but….

In the past 37 years of being married to a Catholic, I have encountered 3 priests who had “secret” heterosexual relationships, and that, clearly, is just the ones who got “caught”. I am not a Catholic by the way.

Plenty of rumours around one at my parents church too. There were certainly lots of female parishioners regularly hanging around him. There’s also a misconception that they live some kind of closeted lives before and during the priesthood. It may be the case for some other individuals but there is a huge difference in the backgrounds and personalities of those I’ve known. The one mentioned above worked managed a nightclub before being ordained. My sister was married by a friend who’d become a priest, he couldn’t wait to change into his civvies and join the party.

Growing up in a very rural exclusively catholic place, most priests in the area were known to have "secret" girlfriends. Two of them that I remember gave up the priesthood and got married.

Also married to a Catholic. One priest my OH knew cheated by starting out as an Anglican, getting married, having a kid then converting to Catholicism which came with a special pass for said wife and kid. More above board than the the secret relationships mentioned here, but it was a bit creepy seeing him down at the local Waitrose holding a small child's hand....

He was also a massive pisshead, but that's another matter.

So now paying for an aeroplane is "crooked" and taking one as a gift from a foreign government with a poor human rights record isn't.

When even loopy Loomer knows it's completely corrupt...

What gets me is that I work for an American owned company.
We all have to watch boring videos and fill out stupid forms about corporate gifts and bribes.
I can’t even take a Christmas gift or sports tickets from a client. And gifts from overseas governments are total red flags.
So it’s not like the US corporate world isn't alive to this.

That last paragraph!

Beat me to it. Is the US going to become a Christian theocracy? Or are Jews, Buddists, Hindus and Jedis still considered to be compatible?

What does project 2025 say about Vegans?

(Tbh I wouldn't mind if they all had to go underground for fear or persecution, because they do bang on a bit.)

Paul Dans, the 'architect' of Project 2025, is given a page "By Invitation" in The Economist last week.
This is perhaps the most egregious bit of complete bollocks in his piece -
...America's constitution envisions three branches of government: legislative, executive and judicial. FDR created a fourth, the administrative state. The constitution provides "[T]he executive Power shall be vested in a President." The investiture is exclusive to the president, not reposited in a committee of presidents, nor an agency "independent" of presidential control. The buck is supposed to stop on the president's desk. An agency independent of the president is one independent of the people - that is, unaccountable. That's not democracy...
