An aspect to any Iranian retaliation for domestic US is that since Trump took office this term his appointee as FBI Director Kash Patel has been closing down a lot of the US anti-terrorism units and moving others to immigration. So ideological policies are leaving the US more vulnerable than they were prior to this Trump term.

At this moment it would be rather dumb for Iran to continue.

They took a pounding, probably lost most if not all of their nuclear capability. Lost many of their military leaders. Alienated their neighbours further by firing into their regions.

I would think if they continued, their leadership would be next to be taken out
