Planning a trip to the U.S.? Things may get a bit pricey up front.

"The US may require foreign nationals from certain countries to pay a $15,000 (£11,300) deposit for a tourist or business visa."

Finders fee, for the flighty ones.

Hey youz, gimme 15 thousand bucks, or else. Shure you'll get it back...
With inflation and how Trump/Project 2025 want the US$ to "perform" you may get US$15,000 back but you won't be getting back the same value as you handed over. In addition to US$ value and inflation, great interest free loan.

And just consider the court costs when you have to take the now legally immune Donald J to court to get the money returned ...

With recent Supreme court decisions

Birth right citizenship will not be guaranteed, parental control will be re established, trans surgery federal funding cut. Sanctuary city funding cuts, refugee resettlement suspended.

Only 5 districts out of the 94 have attempted to block government policy with injunctions, this will end, interrupting the executive.

Blatant gerrymandering is now being considered in an effort to avoid mid term damage.
It’s not even subtle.

Absolutely anything, and everything, is on the table to keep this thing going.
If they are prepared to ignore the constitution then what's a little gerrymandering? Expect more, and worse. We are only 12.5% into this.

Edit - And that 12.5% is assuming only a 4 year MAGA term.

This was always the aim, and why he's there. Anti-science is winning in America. He ought to be called the 'health' secretary.

Just for once, Democrats are threatening to play equally dirty, in New York (Hochul) and California (Newsom). But the fact that they can (and perhaps need to) do this shows what a ridiculous system they have allowed to continue. That so much of the machinery of the state (elections, civil service, judiciary) is politicised was always daft, and Trumpism is showing just how dangerous it was and is. Republicans have been setting this up for decades, waiting for their moment. Worth reading up on Newt Gingrich.

Trump threatening a 39% tariff on Switzerland !?
Plus more tariffs in the EU (this, after doing a deal ) on pharmaceutical products.

How does any business operate on fluctuating grounds?

Well the investment markets seem to hear what Trump says, then ignore it for the most part, or make their decisions on a watered down version of his threats.
but for actual businesses, surely you look at alternative markets and just move away from dealing with the US.

Ideally but if the US is your major market it's easier said than done. It's like when you have a big client that always pays you late, ideally you'd drop them but a lot of the time you are too reliant on the work they give you.
