Seems like Farage has managed to whisper into Trump’s ear about Chagos.
Trump had previously agreed to the deal but now in light of the Greenland issue he has had a change of heart.

To anyone thinking that my recent posts about Greenland then Canada have been hyperbolic, here is an AI generated photo that Donnie posted last night. The final solution would be to add on Mexico, the islands and all else to Venezuela.

He seems to be in full wrecking mode, doing stuff like this and publishing private communications from Macron & Rutte, making it harder to see a 'diplomatic' solution working, and moving the US further into the territory of rogue/hostile state. It's not surprising if the ROTW doesn't really know how to deal with someone so malignant and so demented in charge of what was an ally. The obvious threat of "You wouldn't want to throw away the US's dominance and wealth by going down this route" seems to be met with the kind of "We don't care" mindset that (on a much smaller scale) gave us Brexit, and had the same wrecking of relationships and ways-of-working at its heart. It's really hard to negotiate with that mindset, because breaking things is easy if you don't care about the consequences.

We should cut our losses. There's no talking that is going to work with the US, Trump or no Trump. The hangers on and the voters chose him because of this behaviour, not in spite of it.

And do what exactly? Burn down the US economy by stopping lending to them and burn ours down as well? Fight them on the beaches (ignoring the fact that Trump has the world's largest army and nuclear arsenal at his disposal)?

I'm not going to deny the temptation to walk away from such malignant batshittery, but then what? That's the problem facing everyone trying to avoid economic and/or military armageddon.

What is it with Trump and ballrooms?

He's lodged planning permission for a ballroom at his hotel and golf course* in Ireland, which his son Eric has flown over to supervise. "It's just what the local economy and people need".
He's considering one for his hotel in Scotland as well.

*Back the west of Clare. And he owes money left, right and centre to local people and businesses because of his hotel.

We will await some deranged speech in Davos with curiosity and legions of world wide cognitive specialists, note books in hand.

The guy is a f*cking mobster gone nuts. He's gotten away with so much for so long he thinks he can do anything.

One commentator said of this administration that the US is f*cked. Even if Trump is replaced by a Democratic President, that president is going to have to go begging all around the world to undo tariffs and barriers created by Trump and the world is not going to trust that another Republican party eejit isn't going to come in and start doing more sh*t in another 4 years. Meanwhile, the world is forming new alliances and trade deals leaving the US behind and US infrastructure dependent on imports and commerce dependent on exports very weak.
This whole Greenland thing could well wreck the US economy. It will be interesting to see what comes out of Switzerland. I hope there is a collective 'no' to Trump rather than sporadic appeasement.
I noticed Palantir and Meta and the like are all there.

Obviously you've never been to a formal dinner dance.

Its nice to spruce up and go to a special event from time to time
