The other thing that suddenly comes back to me (I muse on things in the woods, then forget them) is the way Trump is not actually trying to achieve the status enjoyed by kings. No, sod that. He's going all out for the status of a pre-Magna Carta king - ie, a king from the days when a king was a real king and got to do exactly what he wanted with no interference from spoilsports of any description.

If only he'd lead his country into battle like a proper king used to.
