It is not going to reduce gas prices for all Americans though, certainly not before the midterms. Just a minor hiccup.
Also, the US refining infrastructure is not geared up to use the kind of crude oil Venezuela produces.

I can't see it "holding". Open to challenge in the Venezuelan courts or to being overturned by a subsequent Government as the Venezuelan Constitution reserves the oil industry for the State (along with other strategic industries). There are joint venture structures that could be setup and comply with the constitution but I wonder if they would give the US investors adequate confidence to pour loads of money in, particularly given the history and subsequent US Presidents might think even a bit before sending in yhe military (to anywhere).I guess once they've stolen all the oil and impoverished Venezuela they'll just walk away.
